All -
This message is to address the concerns that many members have in regards to others who find "hard(er) to find items" and then turn around and attempt to sell the aforementioned item and/or items at a profit. I understand your frustration, I really do. However, there really is no need to call someone names (ie - Scalper). We're all adults. As such, we're all entitled to our opinions. HissTank.com appreciates everyone's point of view, and want you all to continue sharing your outlooks and opinions. That being said, please ensure that you take a step back and think about what you're posting before you post it (advice that I too need to take in to consideration). Want to know the best way to get back at that "evil scalper"? Don't buy their product. Simple. They'll be stuck with it, and in order to at least break even, they'll have to come down in price. Many of us are really passionate about this topic. Many of us look at people re-selling items as scalping, where others of us think it's a service. Do I think $15 for a figure is fair? Heck no. That's just me. Someone else may think it's fair, and at the end of the day, it's he/she who will pay for the item, so it shouldn't bother me, nor should you let it bother you. Sure it's frustrating. You've just driven around God's creation, and find NOTHING but 5 packs. You get home, log in, and see someone who just found eleventeen cases of something that you were just looking for. To add insult to injury, that person isn't asking cost, but for a few bucks more. Is this a reason to condemn the person? As the days go by, we will ALL begin to see more items on shelves...if you need an example, look at waves 2 & 3. Remember when no one could find them? Now everyone can. The same will be said about wave 4 & 5. I'm just hoping that when wave 6 comes out, and someone finds them...the rest of us won't scream bloody murder.

Let me preface my comment by saying that I am not a scalper. With that said I don't mind a guy making an extra buck or so for his efforts. Lord knows I've drived all around all parts and had little success. I think a guy could sell them for just a little bit more for his efforts. $15 is too much. Like I said I am not a scalper and have never sold any of my toys. I agree though it is so frustrating seeing guys buy everything that the racks hold and I get nothing for my efforts. I have been to close to 15 stores since Sunday with nothing to show for it.

I'm posting my previous post elsewhere:
We've been over this issue before. We're fighting over this because there isn't enough supply to satisfy everyone. If there were more pegs like the Transformer Movie toys (except only until this month), we wouldn't care about the scalpers. But the fact is there are only few pegs at the stores and buying boat loads of cases doesn't help the situation. That's why I pre-order my stuff through BBTS or buy through HTS. |

One of the most common complaints I see posted in these scalper-related topics is "it's not fair." Anytime I used to tell my grandfather that something wasn't fair he'd always say "Tough. Life's not fair. Six Flags, now that's a fair." I'm not so sure Six Flags is a fair so much as it is an amusement park, but you get the point he was trying to make I hope

I think the most important thing to remember is that regardless of what you think of the practice and the person, nobody is allowed to create a hostile environment here for any other member. you can argue that "calling a spade a spade" doesn't create a hostile environment because you can't take being called a scalper as an insult when you are voluntarily engaging in the practice of scalping, but by doing so you are only contributing to the aggravation of the practice. just as you can simply not buy from them, don't respond or correspond with them either. you can't solve the problem or eradicate the practice by inflaming the situation.

I've always thought BBTS sold their stuff a little high...($9.99 for CG) and I've not read one complaint about their practices. Yet when an average guy sells for the same or even less than BBTS, he's branded a scalper.
I don't get it.
