2008 went down as the biggest and best year when it came to collecting for me. I'm a little scared to try and add everything up and see what I spent on G.I.JOE this year. It got me to thinking about 2009 and here's what I came up with:
** I resolve to only buy original GI JOE figures, vehicles, playsets (etc.?) in 2009.** For the first 13 waves of single figures, I have every one of them MOC. From this point on, I'm only going to get figures of characters that haven't been made yet. No Python Patrols, Tiger Force, repaints or variants (which is basically a repaint to me). No figures I've never heard of (I would have passed on Wraith). I might make an exception for some figures (I'm a fan of the Matt Trakker addition). Like with the new comic packs with Tunnel Rat and Shockwave, I'll try to get 2 of each (1 to open and 1 to keep MOC). New vehicles I will pick up and buy a 2nd one of my favorites to keep MIB. I was a little relieved when I saw Target's exclusive TF Rattler and PP Conquest 'cuz that will save me $50+. For me, it's a space issue (not enough) and a money issue (again, not enough). However, I won't get rid of one figure stand or anything else I've paid for. It breaks my heart to read stories on here from people who have to give up their collections. So with the movie coming out and Hasbro focusing on that line for the most part is a relief to me. Sure, I'll probably buy 1 or 2 things that look cool from the movie, as with the Resolute line. I have my 2nd Blowtorch and a Ghost Hawk coming before the year ends. Over at BBTS, I have the new JOE 5-pack, new Cobra 5-pack, a 2nd set of the Cobra Artic Squad and a 2nd comic pack of Beachhead/Mainframe all to keep MIB in my pile of loot. After that and from this point forward, I'm seriously going to cut down my expenses and only get what I really, really want. Just wanted to hear everyone else's resolutions for the new year. Have a great 2009!

Huh...
Uh... I resolve to keep a positive attitude about the movie until I actually see it. Does that count? As far as collecting goes, I resolve to only buy figures that are new and not crappy repacks (like the "new" Torch, Ripper and Firefly). |

I am Hasbro's "plastic crack whore", I've purchased every single item that Hasbro has released since summer of '07. With the focus being shifted to the movie line it's nice to know in advance that I won't be spending as much. It feels like the 80s again. I bought every figure between '83-'88, then I started getting picky once '89 came around. I just hope the movie line does well that when the focus goes back to the "traditional" format we could finally see more new and unreleased characters. I love my Joes but like most of you, I don't have the space for it.

my resolution is to not worry about collecting all the vehicles, comic packs, sro sets and vehicles mib anymore. i'm going to narrow my focus to carded figures for my mib/moc collection. infact, in the next couple weeks i'll be updating my want/trade/sell list with most of my unopened stuff mentioned above to simplify my collection.
also, not getting sucked into resolute figures. haven't bought any so far and other than the bat, no plans to.

Buy only new figures and vehicles. No repaints (Python patrol and Tiger Force included)
I have enough Dukes, Cobra Commanders, Wild Bill's etc. I will only buy new unreleased characters. I am done with Awe Striker and Sharc repaints forever. I will not buy any movie figures. I am planning on going on hiatus like the 25th Joes. I will only buy figures that are not in the actors likeness. I will only buy comic packs if there is a new character (i.e. Mainframe, Scrap Iron) That is enough for now. |

To buy only Cartoon Single figs that I've managed not too find, skip ALL Comic Packs as usual, Try to buy the Vehicles I like and need, and maybe if the sculpt piques my interest one or two, Resolute and Movie figs.
