The poll of this week deals with the Skystriker:RAH(F-14 Tomcat) vs Resolute(YF-23 Black Widow II)-For a new Mold, which would you prefer?
The classic F-14 Tomcat based Skystriker XP-14F is the most popular G.I. Joe jet, and the most iconic. It is like the X-wing in Star Wars; even if it is old, it is a classic, and the modern era line is full of toys influenced by the classic Real American Hero G.I. Joe toyline, with fans still wanting more. Sure, it can be said that we have gotten most of the iconic characters already, such as Storm Shadow, Duke, Cobra Commander, the list goes on. Yet, can we say the same for vehicles? Not even close. While it is understandable why we have not gotten many of the larger, iconic vehicles, the desire to own them still remains. The next Skystriker in the upcoming G.I. Joe:Resolute is based on the YF-23 Black Widow II. This version will be a two seater, and coincidentally enough, made by Northrop, who later merged with Grumman, the makers of the F-14 Tomcat. Despite the demand for an F-14 based Skystriker toy, there is still a demand amongst the fandom for an all new Skystriker based on a current generation fighter, be it F-22, et al. The YF-23 based Skystriker in Resolute fulfills this desire, but there has been no toy announced. So with that said.... If you had a choice between having an all new Skystriker toy/mold, would you have an F-14 based Skystriker(XP-14F/RAH), or would you rather have a YF-23 based Skystriker(Resolute)? In a perfect world, we would get both. However this poll is to see which one you would want most if you could only have one made for the line. This isn't about reissuing the old toys, like the vintage Skystriker XP-14F, or even the Storm Eagle(YF-23 based, had a fold down handle and water gun). This is about all new toys/molds. Those of you who loved the F-14 Skystriker while growing up but always craved more detail, this poll is for you. Those of you who want a futuristic, current generation Skystriker, this poll is for you too. The classic Skystriker XP-14F has proven to be the most popular joe jet from RAH on our forums. Let's see how this turns out! DISCUSS! |

I love both planes, the YF-23 is "one of the best planes never made", as in never reaching full production, which is sad since this happened to a lot of Northrop aircraft. The Tomcat is my favorite plane, loved it all through childhood, the 23 isn't so far behind it in my eyes, both are great fighters. I'd love to see toys of both, but if I had to pick just one, I'd go with the F-14 Tomcat based one(Skystriker XP-14F).

Time to step forward, no 30 year old jets.
And I loved mine as a kid too but with how many people who moaned about the ancient look of the MOBAT I don't understand why the want a F-14. Last edited by Sarge; 12-19-2008 at 11:01 PM.. |
