So far everyone I know in the Tank is collecting this new G I Joe line. We leave nothing new on the pegs and some troop build like madmen. Some of us keep them in packaging while others decide to rip them open and commence a battle in the floor. I myself... leave one in package and take the rest out and troop build when I can find anything (Cobra forces are small at the moment)!
In the future.. I ask, how much will the figures we now collect be worth? Since I believe we have more collectors in the world than ever then more collectibles will be saved and not be as rare. Most things now are rare and we pay a bunch of money to have them. But now we are smarter than when we were kids and we take better care of our stuff. So is a Conquest X-30 from Target today going to be worth alot in the future compared to a Conquest X-30 from 1986 worth Today that is MIB??? Has anyone thought of what our toys may bring in the future compared to our Past Toys are worth right now?? Let gets some feedback on this. |

This could be comparable to say the beanie baby craze perhaps, which in the end they were worth zero?

That's one of the big reasons I do open all my stuff. So many collectors hang on to everything and seal them up in hyperbolic chambers for some future society that craves molded plastic to fuel it's sinister machines. Screw that, I'll open mine up and enjoy them while I'm here.

Yes I've thought about it about $14,000.00 dollars ago. I collect to collect, not so much as an investment, I look at my toys and say, does this hold any meaning to me? I usually answer, yes it does, a simpler time in my life when I hadn't a care in the world, except my school work. They bring back fond memories, and I think to myself, I should at least keep them packaged this way I can break even if I needed to sell them in a pinch. But if I ever make tons of money or win the lottery they stay boxed until I don't care about the value anymore. I think would I be ok selling them? Well, if it helped a loved one or myself yes. Would I be ok opening them? Yes, if I had a whole room to dedicate to them yes it would.

I tend to think that the hard to find stuff will keep it's worth while your right that we are better at keeping our Joes. They won't be worth as much because there are more of us collecting and protecting.
