They are called Disquises people! Hasbro could make tons o money on a 5 pack or 6. Citizen could be any joe out there, just depends on what stand the figure is on, the diversity is endless if you want a citizen you got one, if you want the figure to be duke..done, chuckles..done. If each figure came with an extra head it would be a great bonus. As for Scientist, put in Dr. Mindbender and 4 Scientist just label them his assisstants, or Dr Venom, or Dr. Vandamere. Hostages they can make an adventure...Duke, Lady Jay, Stalker, Scarlett, and Gung ho have been captured..Can you save them?

I'd like a pair of civilian seven packs as internet exclusives.

Yeah, there was a whole thread about whether or not you'd buy a civilian pack, and about 70% of the people who responded said they would. I'd certainly buy one.

I would probably buy one as well.

If Hasbro could cull together parts from other lines in order to do it, it may work. (some of the Indy figures may have parts that could be used. A small portion of Star Wars...
I'm thinking that once they do Chuckles, they will have the torso to do the Civillians as repaints. Add in a few heads and it may work. (put a different head on Henry Jones and go with a different color suit... etc) |

until they see the price tag for figures which manufactured at such a small quantity to target a tiny market that is comprised of only 70% of a small internet forum and the sets cost $100 for 7 figures. at that point, the money won't be where the mouth is. real easy to make marketing decisions in make believe, it is real hard to actually find it logistically capable to do at a price point that will attract customers.
However, I find it unlikely that such a set would cost $100, given that little retooling would really be needed. I do agree with you on the marketing problem, however.

I agree with being marketable. The sets could be passed off with other venues, such as the upcoming marvel line in 3 3/4 size or Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and so on.
The fact is that Hasbro is starting to create action figures for several genres that fall around the 4” mark(as mentioned), so creating civilian/scientist/hostage packs would sound very reasonable. |

Well, that's 70% of those who bothered to respond. But that's not really indicative of the buying group as a whole, because it's such a small sampling size that it can't really be taken as indicative of much of anything. I was just pointing out that the topic had been brought up before and that most of the people who responded were in favor, not that it was practical or likely.
However, I find it unlikely that such a set would cost $100, given that little retooling would really be needed. I do agree with you on the marketing problem, however. what do you call the line -- Average Joes? toys sell because they promise excitement and imagination, and regular people toys provide neither. |
