for me it was alley-viper but i also didnt have more than one of the troops unless i traded for it but for the most part one of each that was available or that i could get in trade somehow was how i collected, that being said cobra and gi-joe had so many cool characters that it would just become joe and cobra versus everything before i ever heard of the oktober guard we would pretend wow i havent said that in sooo long ha ha damn we used to say (make pretend ) every five seconds i swear anyway we would pretend that other toys were aliens or different armies that
somehow overpowered even cobra so they would have to co exist with the joes to eventually overcome the other army or the x-men or darth vader or whatever ha ha great thread guys! |

I always used the Cobra Trooper that came with the glider as a unique Cobra Trooper. Kinda like Scarface without the scar.

I would take one of my two Iron Grenadiers and make him Destro's Sergeant Major from the comics. I put a sticker on his chest that looked like a rank insignia...
And I took one of my Cobra soldiers and painted a scar on his face... |

as a kid, all of the "troop builders" were individual guys to me. I never had multiples and never really even thought of them like that when I played with them.

You know, I remember having two Scoops growing up. I think I got them both as gifts, but still... I guess it's cool though since he did come with a pretty sweet helmet.

Dude, I found my Scoop recently (well, a few years back) out in my backyard. I didn't remember who he was and when I found out, I couldn't help but wonder why GI Joe needed a reporter. Cool figure though! |

I only had one of each figure as a kid. I never saw a need to have multiples. On a sort-of related note, I watched the original cartoon when I was REEEEALLY young, like pre-school to early elementary, and that was mostly reruns. I used to think ALL of the Cobra generics were ROBOTS. Not just the BATs. My first GIJoe figure, a Crimson Guard, was always a robot to me until I eventually saw GIJoe the Movie when Pythona rips the mask off one of them. I was really confused! I actually have the memories from my pre-school gift exchange getting that Crimson Guard, and I actually still have him! Well, and like three others.

I was like some of you and just used my Cobra troopers as individual characters. I think I had 2 Cobra's but that was it. It was more special to me when they were all unique (I'd give them their own personalities even in battle).

Hah, I love backyard finds. We were digging post holes for a new fence row at my parents place and dug up a night raven drone. Two feet in the ground, left for dead in my old sand pit. I really should've taken photo of it before I cleaned it up and painted it. I should really take pictures of it now...
