Recently I purchased the Amazon.com preview set and one Retaliation Roadblock figure (found a couple at TRU). I was disappointed that the figure does not have articulation at the ankle. I can deal with the single knee joint (but the double knee was great); however, the loss of the articulation at the ankle is horrible. The ankle articulation was great on the 25th anniversary figures for more realistic poses, now Roadblock (Rock) kneels like a Joe vs. Cobra figure. Roadblock is identified as a "Ninja Commando", so why does he lack the needed articulation for better posing? It's bad enough that the vehicle drivers are loosing their articulation, but single figures are also. Is Hasbro loosing that much money that they need to reduce the articulation on the figure that created their business? GI Joe should be the company's first concern.

Carded retaliation Joes are as articulated as the ARAH figures that got us into this property in the first place. POC spoiled us rotten...

I thought everyone already knew about the articulation (or lack of) in both carded figures and vehicle drivers. I'm surprised you can be disappointed by it. It's been talked about to death.
With all the different products Hasbro puts out, GI Joe will never, ever be it's first concern. |

The funny thing about the articulation issue is that somewhere Hasbro went on record as saying that it was a cost concern. So they essentially spent **more** money to create new tooling to put out figures with less articulation. I'm no expert but couldn't they have used the tooling they already had and saved money? I'd rather have a reused part than a new one with limitations.

The trade-off is you get amazingly articulated ninjas (I'm not talking about ninja supreme Roadblock) and scaled back articulation on most other figures. Of course, you don't have to buy them .... What Hasbro does pretty smartly it seems is that it doesn't reduce articulation on a classic figure, just movie figures already done in the classics style. I'm sure the night viper will be quite well articulated, as Jinx is clearly as well as Joe Colton. But the Cobra trooper or CC might not be as we have superior versions of these figures already.

I found out Santa wasn't real in the third grade. Doesn't mean I'm not still disappointed at age 37. |
