Wal Mart is taking a break, it's the holiday season. heck, they just got that 80 piece end cap display, hardly indicative of a store taking a break from teh line. |

Wow, hell of a thread I started here. Freakin' Vader stepped in... Ha ha! I haven't even been on here a day and I can imagine that's not a good thing. I waited to join this forum due to the speed and promptness of posting. I'm only on once a day and replying to individuals will be hard, so I'm going to combine.
1. Paul, Unleashed didn't get cancelled due to poor sales. It was the best selling style of figures in years and it's value skyrocketed across the entire line until it was torpedoed due to high production costs. They retailed for $16 and the average figure was worth $25 to $45 on the secondary market. Some, like the stormtrooper, went from $16 retail to $50 secondary in weeks(he stayed there too, not like clear wraith; first at $80, now $30- weeks later). 2. Spacemonkey, yea, wow, you guys are meanies!!! I'm gonna tell my mommy that my tummy hurts so that she will send you all home. Then I can play with my snake mountain microphone by myself. Ha ha haaaaa!!!!!!!!!! Grizzlor on the M-I-C.... wikki wikki. 3. Batman- obviously the managers you know, don't care much about toys. The dude here has worked at wally for 10 years and as I already said "is a toy collector". He has a vested interest. I hope he's not correct about ordering less(hell, they already don't order much new product). 4.Open But, I do have to say, I would be worried about the movie hiatus etc. I've seen quite a few lines be hurt/killed due to the movie doing too good or poorly. Poor example = Hulk. When the 1st movie came out, it had a line that wouldn't sell, so guess what the suits did? they killed hulk classics because they thought since the movie stuff didn't sell, no hulk product would sell. Hulk classics was the best hulk line ever, period. Good example = Lord of the rings. The movie was so good and the toy line was great. So great that everyone associated those actors with those characters so deeply that you couldn't sell any other product but the movie stuff. So, bye bye toy vault figures. It was a great line, very book inspired. Came out first, rarer, and had exclusives. Worthless now and so is the movie figures for the most. I'm hoping this isn't the case with joes, but I'm seeing signs that aren't good and I've been collecting/selling toys for 11-12 years now. Even had a store back in '97. So, I do have experience with trends in action figures. Not trying to spread rumors, just thought this one should be somewhat out in the open. No matter what, there will always be a following, even if they don't make another figure from this day forth. Thank god for that. |

Gi joe is one of the most popular toy lines right now!
But your right, lets look at all the signs that point to the lines death: An ultimate battle pack from Target An exclusive "destro' Hasbro selling AFA graded figures! A major motion picture in the works A new internet cartoon A horde of new comic titles. Gosh your right why would Hasbro even think of continuing this line????? (allright thats all the sarcasm I got time to go back to the sarcasm well....)

Wow, sorry batman, did I scare you with my ease of reading and 40 wpm type speed? Damn, I actually blew out my eye socket reading your post. I'm not even going to go back and forth with you. I have 600+ OTC figures bought at retail since 1992. I have twenty thousand dollars worth of ccg cards, magic etc. Not to count comics and the like. Guess I do need a magazine to help me. Actually, do they make a "action figure collecting for dummies" book?

The movie line crap will just linger on for years like the crap produced for just about every other movie out there. |
