I don't understand why people are upset and saying that Hasbro is short-changing them by sending "mass amounts" of these figures to AFA for grading.
According to HTS, they had 30 figures up for grading and I was fortunate enough to be online when they went live and no figure had more than 15 in stock so let's assume they had 20 of each that is only 600 figures they had graded. Currently on that same site (HTS) there are more than 500 of the following figures in stock: Cobra Bazooka Trooper (900), Cobra Eels (600), Paraviper (600), Cobra Flint (700), Scarlett (600), Airborne (700), Trakker (900) and Zartan (700). Each of those figures were the ones graded and every single one of them has more in stock than the COMBINED total HTS had AFA listed at the start of the day. Also, BBTS has more than 200 cases of Wave 10, 500 cases of Wave 11 and 500 cases of Wave 12 in stock right now. I know these are both small samples but the figures are being produced and are out there for us to buy them. Wave 10 has not been spotted in mass numbers in retail yet while Wave 11 and 12 are just starting to be found. All three waves could be sitting in retail warehouses somewhere just waiting to be distributed to respective stores when they need the stock nobody knows for sure on this. I can respect if somebody doesn't like AFA for their own reasons but to say that HTS is cheating them by selling a small handful of figures when they have made the same figures readily available is a very weak excuse IMO. That being said, those who like AFA figures are probably happy HTS did this. Those who don't collect AFA figures are probably pissed off for some reason or another. To each his own.

Look at Airborne, you can buy him for 7.99 and wait till 11/24 (pre-order) or you can buy him at 89.99 and have him ship in a day or less. Now do the math....
Where did you derive these numbers of figures from, I do not see quantities on their website indicating these.... The figures you listed also do not ship till 11/24 where the AFA ones ship within one day.... |

Also, some of the Wave 11 figures that were "scheduled" for shipment "on or around" 11/24 have already begun to ship so they did have them in stock and have started shipping them. There was another thread on this site talking about how people's orders are getting shipped now.

As for the Zartan number, I apologize that was for the inventory at BBTS, I got my columns mixed up with that. BBTS also had 100 red sigil Cobra Troopers earlier tonight but now are less than 10 remaining in stock.

Why do people care so much about this? How does it effect you? I myself am primarily an avid opener, but I do get the occasional item graded; I love the way (for example) Vintage Indiana Jones figures look in a loose case. And, as others have stated, grading is a quality guarantee in an age of online commerce.
Do y'all get upset if someone loves brussell sprouts and you hate them? If you're loose collector in the first place, what do you care about secondary-market, high-end collecting? I got my ungraded versions of all these figures (or have them in the mail now coming to me), and I will open them with great excitement. I don't necessarily want a graded, modern Airborne, but I'm really happy for those who do that Hasbro is offering this. Graded collectibles are a niche market for collectors to pursue pristine samples of pieces from their chosen hobby. I'm just having a real hard time understanding the vitriol and ire here. Once again, how does it effect you? |

I wish some SUPER RICH BAZILLONAIRE would buy up all the graded figures and then post a video of himself opening them all up and giving the toys to a bunch of little kids somewhere.
