The only thing that really bugs me about this line is that so few of the female characters have been made. Granted there's not as many female characters as males, but what's been made is still pretty lacking. Is there any particular reason for this? We have Scarlett, Lady Jaye, and Baroness(multiple versions of each even) yet I still want Jinx, Cover Girl, Daina, Zarana, Zanya, and any other Joe/Cobra characters too. I think some of these women like Cover Girl and Zarana are basically vital.
The only 3 excuses I can imagine as to why more haven't been made are: 1. Hasbro/retailers think women won't sell. 2. Hasbro doesn't want the Joe line confused with Barbie. 3. Hasbro is saving the rest for next year or two. I think the 25th Ann. line is overall great, and Hasbro has put out some AWESOME figures, but this situation really bugs me. Is anybody else frustrated by this? |

ive been bitching my head off about this very thing...i want a single carded baroness with her hair up and a bikini killer version too, zarana and zanya obviously, cover girl and jinx as well and then some female viper/trooper types like a 5 pack, maybe a cg, trooper, viper, snow bunny...i mean serpent, oh and RAVEN the strato viper female pilot...but hotter than the cartoon version

The same question could be asked, why there are so many Snake Eyes, Dukes and Flints instead of having a Footloose, Barrell Roll, Hit & Run or any of the other hundreds of Joes.
It's a matter of percentages and popularity. Hasbro has to combine the fanbase of the cartoon, marvel/DDP comics and original toys and issues new figures based on that, as well as keep the line fresh with new things (Para-Viper, Wraith, Bazooka Trooper). So they took the 3 most popular females from all 3 (Lady Jaye, Scarlett and Baroness) and concentrated on those, just like they took the most popular males from all 3 (Gung-Ho, Roadblock, Duke, Flint, Snake Eyes) and concentrated on those. I'd personally rather see a Mayday figure before Zanya or Zarana.

maybe they'll do a "Ladies of G.I.Joe box set" We at least know we'll get CoverGirl with the movie line (It's not like they have a ton of characters to make out of the movie, so I can't imagine not getting her then)

4. More female characters would require more unique features and thus new molds. Hasbro makes a better profit reusing molds and mix-matching, [sometimes mismatching] pieces to build characters. No one wants a Covergirl with manshoulders.
As it is, Scarlett, Lady Jaye and the original Baroness molds have already been used twice. Hopefully, Hasbro will continue the line after/during the movie toys and produce some more of the missing female cast. Female troop builders wouldn't be so bad since they'd get the opportunity to reuse the molds in excess. |

It is obvious, eventually they will release more woman, but because there are so few, I thin k they are r....e...a.....l...l....y..... stretching them out.
I would love a Zarana, Jinx (red and black DDP suit) Zanya, Mistress Armada (ddp), a single Black costume baroness, Covergirl, a female greenshirt, Dr Knox, Daina would be awesome, but I'd rather see an oktober guard box set. |
