So I've seen the new items from Toyfair and I'm pretty underwhelmed. Some of the items are nice, but a lot of it seems to highlight Hasbro's treatment of the brand. It needs to be said that Hasbro treats the Joe brand like a red-headed-step-child. It could be a major brand, but it seems that the effort just isn't there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's some of the things I've seen:
The distribution is lousy: This is obvious to everyone, but it strikes me as very strange that stores get in one case, sell out, and then the pegs sit empty for months. the marketing is inconsistent: Here's your new movie! The line will continue with movie-sculpts! Wait! No it isn't! Here's different sculpts! Here's your new cartoon! Get hyped about it! Wait! We're cancelling it for the new movie! We'll throw out a few item in the meantime, but make sure you get ready for the new movie! which leads to... Bizarre choices: Do we really need another Awe-Striker? Why are some of the figures so different from their on-screen counterparts? Can anyone explain this? Successes are never followed up on: This really bugs me. I remember how, back in 2006-7, Adventure Team figures were released as store exclusives. It seemed to sell out everywhere (except for the Urban Outfitters Air Adventurer with the wrong outfit). Hasbro decided to capitalise on that success by doing absolutely nothing. Not only that, but according to various message boards, retailers actually asked Hasbro for more AT exclusives, but were turned down! Are you #@$%& kidding me? Blaming everything on retailers: I'm not going to list all the problems since I know that some of it is the retailers' fault, but Hasbro acts as if everything is the fault of retailers. Does anyone find it a little strange that only G.I. Joe is held to this standard by stores? Can anyone explain the moves they've taken with the brand? |

Is there a contest to see who can make the derivative thread going on that I don't know about?

Agreed. They need to get stores to drastically increase inventory. Also, they need to start releasing new Joes each year, rather than SnakeEyes, Duke and CC retreads. Why did Artic Destro pegwarm? Because most of us didn't like the asthetics of the figure and we had 20 versions of Destro already on the Market to choose from that we thought were better ( IE 1984 Destro, Pimp Daddy Destro and ROC 3 PK Version, with two neo-vipers). |

This is the Movie line we've been seeing from ToyFair, these muthaf***ers are gonna be everywhere just like ROC and every other toy based off a movie. Hasbro treats the Joe brand like the red headed stepchild, face it my friend the Joe brand will never hit popularity like it did in the 80s. Times have changed and no matter what Hasbro does Joe will never be like it was 1985. The only reason we are still getting Joes is because of the Movies. Yeah, pretty sad that we have to get a Movie to see Joes on the pegs. I'm surprise we even got POC & the 30th line because the Collectors are the only ones keeping the line alive. Sooner or later the Collectors won't be enough to keep the line going and Hasbro will pull the pllug on the Joe brand.

Hasbro is always trying new things to make GI Joe popular with kids. The Hasbro execs want the GI Joe team to make something the stores will carry and kids will buy. It's not all about adult collectors buying these toys.

But it's the adult collectors and rabid fans who line Bro's pockets. Parents won't buy their kids spring loaded toys. Show me a parent who'll get their kid something they can choke on or go blind with, and I'll show you the Child Welfare Agency phone number.
Not only that, but has anyone else noticed the figures with reduced articulation are the ones that have the springloaded garbage? Cutting costs my left arsecheek.

I can agree on the statement that we as collectors keep G.i.Joe alive and there will be that day when it's not enough and that's the end of the line...but i don't care about what happens to the brand when i'm 70 and out of collecting,i would prefer to see my grandchildren playing with action figures and not their iPhone's,Playstation 5 or X-box 720 XYZ,but as the fact that we don't even have G.i.Joe in Europe and never get them again i guess...i'll enjoy G i.Joe as long as possible and that's it,nothing is for ever.

Guess some of you shouldn't have wished so hard for Ross to sell all that great Joe product at discount prices.
