With all of the articulation speculation on the Retaliation figs, and to me the lame designs, if got me thinking that I would probably be appreciating POC for many years to come. Dont get me wrong, I loved Sigma 6 (mostly for the 2.5 vehicles) and Renegades (for what they did do - we missed out on some no doubt), but I really avoided GI Joe during VvV and DtC. The 25th was exciting, but got old and I don't think stands the test of time, and as much as I tried to like ROC figures, I really disliked ROC (although appreciating the sheer amount of figures and sets that were released). Resolute was awesome for a bit but it too is overshadowed by POC in my opinion.
POC waves 1-4 are simply awesome. Still. I mean I do a couple of modifications here and there, but most of the single packed figures are dioramas themselves, and I really appreciate the different environments they used. I love jumping from Arctic to Jungle etc. It was probably the best incarnation of GI Joe in the last 10 years. I doubt they will make a Renegades Series 2, so after Retaliation settles down, I expect another reboot of some sort, and I have no idea where they will go. If the movie figs turn out as bad as I think they will, and I wont be buying any of the vehicles I have seen... I might move on from GI Joe completely. I really dont want to go through another reboot. |

POC was a great refresh of our classic characters, bringing them up to speed with the modern day. We also got some new characters too, which is something I think Hasbro should concenyrate on.

Its inevitable. I may stop if the plastics quality goes to the soft plasitcs you find in Captain America/Thor figures. I still likek to tinker with kitbash customs and I am not mixing plastics between softer bendier plastics of CA/Thir figures to the POC/30th body plastics. That will be my deciding factor. The articualtion, we were already told, was going to be impacted. How much of the actual implementation of the aritcualtion deficienies is a reality left to be seen. I if cant pop torsos and unscrew legs like I have been since the 25th...yeah I am done lol...I am not paying the pricing they want for these figures just for the heads...

patience will bring more quality product. dont buy what you dont like. theyll do something right. pick that up.
i advise preorders online when you know you want something. the shelves and pegs will probably get clogged quickly unless they drastically change their distribution practices. it takes the fun outta the hunt, but frustrating hunts are even less fun.

Everyone has a different opinion on what a GI Joe is to them, and what the golden years are. There are all types of collectors. For the O-Ring guys, these are the official dark ages. What about Six Sigma fans?
I'll agree, that for me personally I have purchased more product from the PoC/30th line than anything Hasbro has done in the last 10 years (Joe-wise). Still, there is a long time ahead of us to declare this a golden age already. 82-87 Arah is the standard, and no PoC does not top that.

POC was brilliant and it is a damn shame ROC failed because had it not we would have gotten a whole lot more of that awesomeness. the quality of POC, and subsequently the 30th line, is the pinnacle of RAH figures.
that is the quality and effort Hasbro is willing to put into Joe when it believes it has strong retail support, as these figures were likely developed before or shortly after ROC went to market and retailers were ordering hand-over-fist. Hasbro had the budget based on those sales and the expectation that it would perform to sink into an even better line. Retaliation serves as a stark contrast and a reminder of being careful what you wish for. I like most of the ROC figures, but even those people who did not because they were turned off by the movie designs should have been hoping for it succeed because we have seen what we would have gotten, and more of, with POC and the 30th figures when product is being developed with that size of market as the expectation. sadly, ROC did not, retailers lost interest in the brand, and the slow trickle down to figures on the market showing the brunt of that retailer loss comes to a head with Retaliation. so, yes, as Retaliation readies for launch, I too lament the good ol' days of POC for what it was and what it could have been. |

I loved POC too, but I also liked DTC, VvV, Sgt Savage, and many of Joe's other incarnations as well. I bought my son the small scale Sigma Joes when they came out but they didn't really catch on. We mostly play with my ME Joes now.
