The only Joe stuff I've seen at Winners (our version of TJMaxx, even owned by TJX) has been the basic SE movie line, and some of the larger figures.
At my local toy liquidators they had a big stock of movie Baroness and updated Roadblocks, but nothing more interesting than that. |

Expect to see a lot of broken stuff, incomplete figures, and empty boxes at salvage stores as well though. Last time I went to my local Dirt Cheap it had like 50 Headless Space Jam Lebron Jame's they ended up with after the Tik tok challenge. And its very common to see a walmart return sticker on an action figure with a repackers replacement figure in it.
That being said, if I went to one of these stores and saw any toys I wanted that were unopened, I may get them. I wouldn't care that much if the box/card/package was damaged, as long as the toy were in perfect shape & as long as the price was discounted. |

Ross was a gold mine for toys as recently as 2018-2020. Ever since the pandemic, they kind of suck. Prior to 2020 I was finding $10 At-Sts, 50th Anniversary Joes, $10 Blue A-wing ships, hell, even the high end light sabers for cheap. Post 2020? you're lucky if you can find a decent transformer or Marvel Legends.
Lately Ross has been sitting on stacks and stacks of Halo stuff. However, they were charging $20-$30 for most of it, which is nearly the same cost as the original retail price. I've noticed they are charging more for the Transformer and Marvel Legends stuff too. Like $11-$14 for Marvel Legends, when they used to sell them for like $7.99. 2020-2023, Ollies is where you find the deals. I walked in one day on pegs full of Vintage Collection Storm Troopers for like $6/each. I was in heaven. I googled Dirt Cheap. Looks like that chain isn't in Florida. There is ONE store called Dirt Cheap, but they literally sell dirt (and landscaping stuff). I found that hilarious.

Ollie's STILL has a ton of damn Walmart TVC Island Journey Reys. I mean, holy hell how many did Hasbro make? And they NEVER showed up IN Walmart in the U.S.!
Lately I've been finding cheap Marvel Legends at Ross. And some Playmates TMNT figures that I don't recall seeing in stores. |

This is interesting. I don't know if there are any specific salvage stores in my area, but within the past year a store that reminds me (of your description) cropped up. The set-up is like this: The entire store has bins with multiple items in them; some toys; electronics; old DVD's; etc. Most of these are used, and they are not categorized/arranged whatsoever.

They usually announce when they get a major stock of toys in on their website and those are usually the best times to look for stuff there outside of the Christmas season. Last edited by sisco; 02-09-2023 at 12:00 AM.. |

The few times I've been to one, they sometimes have interesting toys/collectibles for great prices. And, if they don't have toys - they usually have a great selection of comic book graphic novels/collected editions, etc. - also for great prices.
