How long has HissTank been around? I've seen profiles dated as old as 2003.

I also remember as recently as 3-4 years ago these stores were getting some of the HTF Star Wars figures/vehicles that regular retail stores either didn't order or barely got (some of the harder-to-find Solo 3.75" figures, etc.). However, when I've gone in these stores recently they barely have any collectibles anymore. Last edited by Doctor Venom; 02-08-2023 at 12:46 PM.. |

The all-white, G.I. Joe logo on the Classified packaging is weak. As that pic shows, the red-white-and-blue really pop.

Companies like Hasbro make less now. I don't think they get the hand me downs like they used to.

I haven't seen any Joe stuff at Ross. Found a bunch of good deals on 4" Fortnite figures though to add to the ME Joe shelf. Halo and Jurassic World merchandise was plentiful at Ross too around Christmas.
For Joe stuff you should check local Salvage stores as well. If you live in the South East US the big salvage store is Dirt Cheap and its sister store Treasure Hunt check them out occasionally for Joe stuff. Salvage stores tend to get a lot of the local Target and Walmart overstock and other stuff that made it past clearance or was returned. The stores right it off to their insurance company as stolen/damaged/unsalable and the insurance company sells it to the salvage companies. Salvage stores also buy up the merchandise from the insurance companies from stores destroyed by fires and natural disasters or from wrecked store trucks. I used to get a lot of 25th vehicles and figures from the local salvage store for pennies on the dollar back in the day. I bought a ton of ROC overstock Joe toys for cheap I otherwise never would have touched that turned out to be great for customs from salvage stores. My best buy was 25th A Hiss Tank in a badly beaten up box but complete and undamaged toy with the driver for $0.25. Expect to see a lot of broken stuff, incomplete figures, and empty boxes at salvage stores as well though. Last time I went to my local Dirt Cheap it had like 50 Headless Space Jam Lebron Jame's they ended up with after the Tik tok challenge. And its very common to see a walmart return sticker on an action figure with a repackers replacement figure in it. Last edited by sisco; 02-08-2023 at 01:26 AM.. |

Someone else can correct me because I am probably wrong, but I believe it originally started as part of TFW2005 in the early 2000s and then splintered off into its own website in early 2006. I joined in summer '07 but lurked for a good 6 months before I joined.

Yes. I remember those days. This particular thread was an invaluable resource to let us know roughly when the Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshalls stores were getting in the HTF 25th Ann. toys. I specifically remember getting a 25th Ann. Stinger there circa 2009/2010 - when I never thought I would ever find it (and didn't want to pay after-market prices).
I also remember as recently as 3-4 years ago these stores were getting some of the HTF Star Wars figures/vehicles that regular retail stores either didn't order or barely got (some of the harder-to-find Solo figures, etc.). However, when I've gone in these stores recently they barely have any collectibles anymore. I think my last find was getting AT-STs for $15. good times indeed

(Just surly because I was especially broke when discount 25th product was going for pennies on the dollar at Ross.)
