So I'm sitting here tonight w/ nothing to do and decide to start flipping through the Netflix movies I can stream, and come across the old "The Final Countdown" movie from the early 80s. I had seen it recently for sale on Blue Ray now, so makes sense they are streaming it now, looks great and clear vs VHS, yadda, yadda, yadda. Anywho........................
If anyone is looking for paint ideas or tips for ways to custom paint the new Sky Strikers (or even an F14 model for that matter), THIS is the movie to watch. F- Top Gun, this has got more better images of F14s (and again now even when streamed from a service like Netflix, CLEAR images if you don't want to buy the Blue Ray) than you can shake a stick at. A TON of Jolly Rogers too, as they are the F14s used in the movie. The movie it's self is Ok, typical pre-80s kind of war stuff. The sci-fi side of it is a little corny, but it's still ok. But man, I have GOT to tell you, I could not remember the last time I saw so many great shots and images of F14s before in my life. Better than any documentary on History or Discovery for that matter. Check it out, and I hope this helps some of ya'll w/ your Sky Striker customs. I know I plan on watching it again sometime when I get ready to do mine.

This movie was totally badass, still one of my top movies of all time. The concept of having a carrier battle group like back in WW2 would be total awesome...I like they way they have th eopportunity and then time snatches it back away from em totally wicked story line.

In the movie thread about this topic, I posted some facts about the movie and a video of the famous Tomcats vs. Zeros video. I am responding using my tablet and it won't let me paste the link. Sorry, but do try to check it out.

I liked watching the Tomcats trying to go SLOW enough to turn w/ the Zeros. That and once the Capt tells them they can shoot down the Zeros, the head on shot of the F14 pulling it's wings in to go after them. Way cool sh*t, not to mention all the cool Jolly Roger images. I might still have to get in to Blue Ray for my boys for when they're older.
