Below is a picture of an F-14A with the wings fully swept and the "winglets" or canards (more accurately wing gloves) just in front of the wings. This is unique to the F-14A. It deploys when the F-14A goes over Mach 1 to increase wing area (lift). Though later it was discovered by the Navy to be unnecessary and eventually deactivated and was absent from all models of the F-14 after the A.
I think it would have been a cool addition to the Sky Striker plus it makes the plane when in the full sweep configuration look awesome!!!

Wow cool tid bit, thanks for sharing, that's somthing I as a pilot and aviation major in college never knew about the F-14. They do look a little bit like AceCombat too huh?

My 1:48 scale F-14A model has that. I just never knew what it was for.

Its a toy...not a military replica...aside form that I am sure Gruman would have wanted more pay out the closer this toy resembled the real thing...

You know what when I was a kid the very first model kit I got was a Snap Tite (I think) F-14A and it had the wing glove. It had a mechanism that when you move the wings to sweep back, it deployed the wing glove. I completely forgot about that.
