I know very little about guns, so I'd love to hear from some weapons buffs.

How do you like to arm your troops? Which weapons should I completely ignore? Who should get the sci-fi guns?

Would you recommend the AK-47 with bayonet for CGs?

I guess another way to go about it is to take a given gun & ask who it's best paired up with & under what conditions?

It's the variety that overwhelms me. Example: There's the HK-G36 & there's the HK-G36C. What makes one a better choice over the other? Then there's like 6 (!!!) versions of the AK-47. When do I want the vanilla 47 with the wood stock & when do I want the AKS-74U "mini AK-47"? Why does the AK with removable clip look so much different from the AK with the wood stock? Which is more accurate?

I usually put the AKS 74U with vehicle drivers or field commanders, where the small size may be better suited. Regular fodder troops get the wood stock AK 47. I believe the removable clip is an AK74.

i give my Troops vanilla woodstock AKs, my officers the folding stock AK, CGs the AK-74 w/ Bayonet, Stinger Drivers the mini AK.
i also have a couple troops with the RPK PKM for squad support and an officer with the Dragnov Sniper Rifle (1000x better then the one they come with, i hate that gun all the Cobra troops get) and you can't go wrong with at least 1 RPG (although with the upcoming Bazooka trooper you might not need it) this set is a great place to start.

Most of my Joes are armed with the modular M-4s in custom configurations, i.e. Gung-Ho with an over-under Grenade Launcher, Stalker with suppressor and starlight scope.

MJs stuff is great! A+, highest recommendation.

What do you think about adopting the XM8 as the default Joe rifle?

it's a little "futuristic" looking for my tastes, but YMMV. I'm reading the story of it on wiki right now, pretty interesting.

I bought a load of the wood stock Ak's for my Valor vs Venom TRU Blueshirt pack a while back and they're my weapon of choice for the 25th Cobra Officers and Stinger Drivers now.

Mostly though, I'm giving MJ weapons to my old Palitoy Action Force figures. The same AK's look good on my Red Shadows and Black Major, while Baron Ironblood gets an Uzi.
My Z-Force captain now sports an British SA80 while his troops get either MP5's or SAW's.
