I missed the story about MASK and GI Joe

Sorry, it's probably old news to everyone here now... but what's up with the MASK crossover?

pretty straightforward -- we're getting Matt Trakker, a MASK character, as a joe release in wave 11.

Whether it's a one-time deal or to test the waters for future plans is still unknown , I guess.

I don't collect SW, but I'm just curious...have they done this kind of crap with their precious SW (i.e. throw in a random non-SW character)?

Matt Trakker was concieved as a one time deal, according to Hasbro, a way to send up the other 80s toylines that Hasbro owns the rights to.

And rumor is that Hasbro had looked at reviving MASK at one point, but was unable due to issues with the name "MASK" so they made Matt to homage the toyline, and will probably be the extent MASK is ever to be heard from for some time.

i think its cool, mabe they are trying to see what people think about having a mask line in gijoe format. i think it would be a great idea and when the movie comes out it would be the perfect time to drop a mask line. it would give us something else to collect while we wait.

I read that a designer on the Joe team was a MASK fan and wanted to try and bring the line back, but Hasbro said they wouldn't be able to do that, so the Matt Trakker was made as a one time deal, to pay homage to the line.
