Is it just me or does something seem wrong with the stories of increased production by Hasbro. At first I was willing to chalk some of this up to the stores not ordering enough product but now that Wave 11 (all but Scarlet) preorders have completely sold out on BBTS in less than two days something else is going on. BBTS used to at least be able to have preorders up for a couple of weeks. I also feel BBTs has a pulse on what its customers want. This leads me to one of a few conclusions.
1.) Hasbro has not increased production of the single carded figures which is what we really want to see the production increased on. Seems to be plenty of production on vehicles and dvd packs. 2.) Hasbro increased production on comic packs only. Comic packs seem to be warming pegs everywhere. 3.) This is my favorite but least likely of these scenarios. Somehow despite the crap economy all of us have some how stumbled upon more disposable income and can suddenly afford multiple cases of Joes. I don't feel as sorry for those of us who are serious long time collectors. I feel that we find ways to get the joes we want for our collections. I really feel sorry for the kids who might see the cartoon, fall in love with a character, and go to the store to purchase it, and find only buzzer, serpentor, and jet pack duke. I remember being a kid and there was never a store that didn't have a big assortment of joes. I just think it is a shame because I can't imagine that Hasbro is building a new fan base, from the 25th series simply because those new fans don't have access to the product. |

You forgot to mention the disturbing trend of serious Joe collectors (many on this very site) dropping like flies lately and liquidating entire collections because of their economic circumstances and the increased prices of Joes. I'm talking hardcore guys that have spent months/years working on semi-complete collections, army builders and the like, having to just give up Joe and sell off. That's pretty disturbing as well.

I'm still not totally convinced that production hasn't been increased. Let's look at a few things:
1. There are way more fans now, than there were last year (When Hasbro stated they would increase production) 2. GI Joe is hot, so more people are buying multiples 3. If the Black Suit SDCC CC can sell 600 figures in 90 minutes on HTS alone, that shows that A. They made a lot more than they did last year and B. That more people are buying them As far as stuff in the stores, sure, at most I'll see only 5-6 different characters in a store at a time. Some stores (Mainly a few Wal-Marts) have at least 10 or more figures (Maybe not all different) on the pegs while other stores (Mainly Target and K-Mart) have 1-3 figures on the pegs. Now I'd like to point out something else here. Target has higher prices and just finished a reset, yet somehow they only have a few figures to put on the shelf. However, Wal-Mart is cheaper and out of 3 stores, 2 of them have 10-20 figures on the pegs, the other store has 5. All of this is still sounding like bad ordering on the store's part, but it could also be due to less shoppers at those two Wal-Marts. Either way, it still doesn't explain why Target sucks when it comes to stocking Joes |

I think you may have forgotten some scenarios:
4.) BBTS is being more cautious with their ordering due to frantic fans calling and demanding their cases (which I've heard of happening on here), canceling orders when another online retailer gets them in sooner (also heard of happening on here) and/or bitching when they're found at retail a week before BBTS gets them in (also heard of happening on here). 5.) The popularity of the line means that more collectors (and more scalpers, as well) are buying than were three months ago, or six months ago, or a year ago, so even with increased prouction we're seeing less product on the shelves. 6.) The rising cost of gas leading more collectors to order online rather than wait to find them in the stores leading to quicker sell outs. Any of these could also be the case. Hasbro doesn't hate us. They're not out to get us. The most disturbing trend I've seen on this site is collectors thinking that Hasbro somehow is messing with them.

I don't feel that Hasbro hates us. Certainly they have released far more different figures in this line than we had originally anticipated. Obviously they make some mistakes (duke arms) and have some raving successes (BAT). I agree the line has increased significantly in popularity although I feel this is mostly with adult collectors and scalpers. I just wish more product was available for kids to purchase. They simply can't compete with the hard core collectors and scalpers who didn't exist 25 years ago. I am not blaming Hasbro for this. I know there is no real solution to this. It is just frustrating.
