I have noticed more and more toys are saying "adult collector" on the packaging from all lines and I wondered if this is stopping parents from buying them for their kids and kids from wanting them when they see them in the stores?
Do you think this "label" is good or bad for the toy community?

What toy lines are you seeing this on? I honestly haven't noticed this at all.

Do you think this "label" is good or bad for the toy community? The main reason it's there is so that the manufacturers can get away with less safety testing for the product (primarily with the extra screening for lead paint that was implemented a couple years ago. Otherwise, yes, those figures would probably cost even more than they do now. |

That's funny because the Toy Dept. Super at my local Target does not classify GI Joe as toys. They are labeled as collector's item.
No. She literally said that they are not "toys", they are "collector's items" and that's why she holds them in the back. Because they don't have a collector's item display for them. Weird. |

But in answer to your question, I don't think it's the labeling of collector's item that scares them from buying them, it's the price of an actual collector's item that scares them. Well, it scares me.

I know for Nascar diecast, the little Winner's Circle brand toy cars had to use fake sponsor logos instead of all the Beer/Tobacco/Viagra logos and stickers. But once in awhile they would release an accurate diecast that had the actual Beer logos on them and the package/card read "Adult Collectible" and (in theory) you had to be over 18 to buy it.

i think with action figures at least the label may give them more leeway with kid's toy safety regulations and such. could be wrong.
