Man, this is so frustrating that Hasbro is mass producing all their other toys lines (I think), however with this 25th/Modern Hero Gi Joe line they are very sparse at best. You go to a Target/WalMart/ToysRUs and you'll find a TOOOOOONNNN of Transformers, Star Wars, and any other toy lines that Hasbro produces. However, you go to those same toy stores and 9 times out of 10 you will find nada, nothing, zero, zilch in the Gi Joe section. Well, except for wave 1 and 2 comic-packs. It doesn't help any better that now stores, like Target, are refusing to put their stock of new 25th stuff out because of being harassed by the scalpers/hoarders in the past, as well.
I just want to casually stroll into Targets/ToysRUs store like in the old days and look over into the toy section and find the figure(s) that I need instead of having to drive store-to-store all over town at 8am in the morning hoping, by the chance, that I will find at least one Gi Joe figure sitting on the pegs that survived the morning/night restock employee pick-thru. Or worse yet, I do not want to have to resort to using Ebay or online "scalper" vendors to get my Gi Joe toys. Seriously, it's like Hasbro is more on the side of Scalpers than they are for the consumer/collector with this Gi Joe line. It has been like this ever since the beginning of Wave 1 back in 2007; having to hunt these things down. I just feel sorry for those of you that haven't seen a new wave in a LOOOOOOOONG time. At least I see all the newest waves, but it isn't until way past until they are initialy released. This line is like the Videogame version of trying to find the Nintendo Wii; not that I am looking for one of those. Nintendo/Hasbro create very little product to drive up demand; which I do not understand why since everyone between the ages of 20-40 LOVES Gi Joe and they would sell regardless. Hell...if these figures weren't released in 1980's packaging, since I am a MOC collector, I wouldn't even bother with this line of 25th figures since they are not that great of figures compared to the original line. Anyways, this is dumb of Hasbro for doing this by making us waste gas, time and patience to hunt down these little pieces of plastic. Ok, rant over!!! Now to hit up Ebay for ONE B.A.T.S. figure...maybe (if I can bring myself to pay scalper fees)...since I cannot find him anywhere and I do not own him yet =( Last edited by wolfrunner74; 07-26-2008 at 01:22 PM.. |

We've become enslaved by the urge to collect them all.

Just order from BBTS or another online store. That's what I do. With the cost of gas these days, and even with transit, I find it is more worth it to just order online and wait for it to come to you. Time costs money, and instead of going around for hours hunting these things down, I'd rather be spending that time with my family and friends.
Yeah, the thrill of the hunt is kind of fun and it's really rewarding when you find that rare figure in the store, but with the 25th anniversary line, it's been really brutal for stock, so online is so much easier. |

I'm guessing they are creating a supply and demand. Low supply high demand. More money....

Yeah, the thrill of the hunt is kind of fun and it's really rewarding when you find that rare figure in the store, but with the 25th anniversary line, it's been really brutal for stock, so online is so much easier. I preordered Wave 10 CrocMaster and Mutt & JunkYard at 11 bucks a piece (added the 2.00 collector fee) for 22 dollars total. Then after the 8 dollars shipping, it came to 30 dollars; hence the 15 dollar a piece price tag. So, after I realized that I was essentially paying Scalper fees, I canceled the preorder. God, this sucks!!! Oh well, I guess I'll just continue to casually walk into stores hoping to find the figures that I need. It's bad enough Hasbro is charging 8 (or is it 9 dollars a figure now) per figure; however, it's worse with scalper fees and giving them the sense of satisfaction that they can dictate the market. |

I think with the failure of the previous Joe lines, retailers are still wary about GI Joe.

15 bucks a figure? what are you talking about? buy the case and its only 9 bucks a figure.50 bucks a case is pretty fair for 6-8 figures and not having to hunt them down
