Was going to start a thread similar to this one myself and ask your opinions about this.
Did most of my Skystriker stickers yesterday and had the same problem. I think it comes down to where exactly you place the front sticker in relation to the cockpit. I centered mine and placed it so that it does not ride up on the molding for the gun on the left side of the nose and it ends exactly where the canopy closes. This has left a few small bubbles but allowed me to place the long side stickers so that they appear to be a continuation of the front sticker where they taper off at the very bottom of where the cockpit merges with the fuselage on each side. As if you couldn't tell, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to stickers and while the little bubbles in the front sticker bug me, I don't think there's any perfect solution and believe that that this is the best way to place them. |

I didn't remember the bulge on the original; makes sense.
I think the stickers themselves though are of good quality. I remember on the original Sky Striker that if you started misapplying a part of a sticker then tried to remove it, half the ink/color of the sticker would come off. It's been a while since I've bought a Joe vehicle (only get the updated reissues) and think that the new stickers are much hardier than their 80's counterparts. |

i tried and tried and ended leaving it off all together. i will not tolerate creases unless they're my fault. doesn't look too bad without it.

The matte finish really helps when you realize you goofed on your sticker placement and have to re-position it. I don't know how many times I had to place and re-place the stickers on the wings of my Skyscream... To be perfectly honest it was a little nerve wracking.

Will certainly try but I need to find my digital camera! I'll look again tonight and see if I can find it.

The stickers on our site are for the vintage skystriker and will not fit the new one.
Stay tuned for New Skystriker sets. Regards, RJ

Can someone please post a picture of the black/red (or black/yellow) nose stripe decal done right!? I've got at least 2 of these jets to do this to.
I won't be able to get anywhere on my attempt to convert a Jetfire SS into a "vintage-styled" SS until I master this ONE decal. (Once it's done, the 2 side stripes should be child's play. Well... teenager's play.) -- Cybertronian. P.S.: Did the original Skystriker have those red "turn-signal like" rectangle decals (in addition to the 8 longer yellow ones)? If so, where do they go, and are they supposed to replace or relocate a pair of the yellow ones? |
