well slinger i think the over all point is that hasbro SHOULDNT put the modern classics on hiatus despite wanting to push their movie line. They basically are saying to us ALL you WILL buy the movie line and like it or you will get nothing at all. I personally dont feel thats fair and dont feel that any of us who love the current joe line should have to put up with that. I mean if they can release regular star wars figures and at the same time release their stupid animated styled ones why cant they do the same for the joes? is it because maybe no one wants the stupid lines and we want the good ones and hasbro wants to sell their stupid lines so they pull this kinda junk. i mean they had killed the classics tf line and now what a year or two later we get them? why should we have to wait till their tired of their movie crap? we shouldnt.

well then we can blame retailers for that one but if the modern classics can stay strong as they obviously have been then store just wont order movie stuff but keep ordering what is selling. so when the movie line dies out the modern line will still go strong as obviously no store can keep anything on shelves.

I understand nobody wants it on hiatus, but manufacturing and selling product, whether it is already existing figures, isn't a hiatus. if they were going to do that, and keep two lines on the shelf at the same time -- exactly what the hiatus is meant to avoid -- they may as well make new figures. that's the point I am trying to make. the very premise of manufacturing and selling 25th stuff next to movie stuff contradicts the point of the hiatus -- it doesn't create a middle ground at all because it does the the very same thing that the hiatus is meant to avoid.

true and i do understand that. I guess what my and many others big fear is that just like with the tf movie line we will see characters done in movie style (or sigma six if you prefer) and the classic current style will be for naught anymore. I guess people wouldnt mind the movie stuff so much if they didnt try to do this hiatus thing, which essentially means our current joe line will be cancelled to make way for everything in to be done in movie line style. I understand they want to push their movie merch but it seems lately they are shooting themselves in the foot by killing lines that are wildly successful to take a gamble on something that may obliterate the line completely.

I can see it now. The movie line will bomb and the retailers will want nothing to do with the GI JOE line for years to come. As soon as a movie based toyline takes off and sells like wild fire or even does remotely well for that matter, I might see the logic in banking your brand on such a product. Movie figures should be short run and blended in with the 25th line with little more than a logo on top (As seen in GI JOE: Rise of Cobra!) and maybe a picture of the actor on the file card.

It looks like Hasbro has pretty much put the line on hiatus already in my opinion. As the pics rolled in, I saw the 25th line transform right before my eyes into a filler line of nothing but repaints and exclusives.
I did a quick count, and of the sixty-two (62!) figs revealed at the con, only six (6?!) appear to me to be all-new sculpts. I didn't count new heads on old bodies. Apparently, they're not even doing that anymore, if Cutter is any indication. |

Do what Star Wars does. Release some movie crap for a couple months then begin releasing original Joe goodness back into the line when the movie excitement ends. Hasbro has maintained its hardcore Star Wars fanbase in large due to continually releasing Original Trilogy product right along side Prequel products.
