I don't mean to be hitting the POC Panic button (we already have a thread for that) but I just want to pass on what was told to me at TRU.
So I asked the nice lady to look in their computer to see if they had any POC figures in the back. She looked it up and said "no we don't have any right now, but it looks like this item has been discontinued" WTF? She even showed me the screen and sure enough it said the item was discontinued. She said that doesn't mean the store won't receive anymore, only that whatever is in the TRU warehouse is all that there will ever be...no more POC coming tot he warehouse. What could that mean? That Hasbro has already told the stores that POC is ending and 30th is starting soon? I hope that's all that it means. Hasbro telling the retailers that they won't be producing anymore POC makes sense, a little early if you ask me considering there is still another wave not released yet. You should also know that it was a Arctic Destro that she scanned. Maybe their computers differentiate between 2010 POC and 2011 POC. So 2010 POC might be discontinued but 2011 POC is alive and well. Anyways, what do you guys think?

I know this forum has a tendency for silly panic, but come on, is that overcritical attitude really necessary? If it's such a waste of time why not just ignore it?

The word "cancelled" gets tossed around here quite often, but most of the time it really isn't used in the correct way. I'm not trying to say what the original poster was told by the TRU employee is true, but I do think that there is something to it. When the TRU employee said that POC was "cancelled" it didn't mean that Hasbro was ending the line. I think that TRU, or only that particular store, decided to "cancel" their order because Joes are pegwarming in that store and they no longer want to carry that particular series. It's the same with all of the Target stuff that ended up at Ross. The word "cancelled" was used then too but we saw boxed items so obviously Hasbro didn't "cancel" anything. It was Target who had enough with ROC Joes so they "cancelled" their order after the figures were already made. It seems as this is happening quite often lately with many other toy lines as well. The stores get sick of the overstock and they don't want any more. Then the later waves don't get shipped out to stores here in the US and are listed as "cancelled" even though they show up elsewhere in other countries. This happened to the Indiana Jones Temple of Doom wave, the final Iron Man 2 wave which was to include Mandarin, and most recently the latest wave of Transformers such as the Scout wave which was to include Windcharger. I also have a bad feeling that Generations Thundercracker, Wheeljack and Reveal the Shield Voyager Grapple might not make it to stores as well if this trend continues. Right now I'm even having a hard time trying to locate Generations Scourge as well as Reveal the Shield Perceptor and Wreckgar.

We all knew the POC line was going to be cancelled, but the initial hit caused Hasbro to give us the extra 2 waves. 30th Anny stuff hits in the fall and will most likely continue on til the movie toys hit next spring, and as always with Hasbro, everything will be bannered under that title, including future Renegades toys
For the 30th stuff, we're still getting POC related figures, and I'm sure with next years movie line we'll have Renegades inspired stuff...No worries. In fact it may be smart that old POC waves are cancelled/discontinued. Especially for non toy retailers like Target, K-Mart, and if we can win them back, Wal-Mart...in general Toy department managers ARE NOT The brightest on the block. They see an empty peg, they usually just scan in old figure SKUs to re-order. That's why Joe pegs were cluttered with old useless crap during the ROC era... And it's besides the point that every ROC wave had a handfull of Turtle Vipers that no one wanted, it was bad wave assortment. For MONTHS it was impossible to find Helix, CS SE, or CS Duke cause they were batched with a ton of CRAP figures. The good ones had a 5 minute peg life, while a 4th recolored turtleviper from the same wave sat for months....it was like looking through the pegs of Rainbow Brite toys in the 80's trying to find a Helix or Hawk, and GOD FORBID a Shipwreck. It was also a female heavy line, which as stated countless times, chicks don't sell in boy toy lines....especially when they have bufugly head sculpts! Scarlett and Baroness both looked like dudes, CG looked like Jessica Simpson...and While I LOVE the Helix head, her hair makes her look like a Dominatrix at Chicago's Exit on Thursday nights (A biker bar/club that has a bondage night every thursday... I don't complaine!) POC was the same way while they had the same SKU. Managers keep scanning the same SKU, and get the same assortment in That's why we're stuck with tons of Arctic Destros Prince of Persia Stormys, gimick crap SS and SEs, and Zartans, and everyone is army building Recondos and Jungle Dukes, and Dusty's. I've seen newer figures more often at f'n Walgreens than at other (cheaper) stores, and have no regrets about paying the 4 extra bucks for the 3 or 4 figs I've bought through them, cause I've NEVER seen them anywhere else.
