I was at Target this morning, and went to the toy aisle in the futile search for something new...as usual there was nothing....but it got me to thinking. In my area, everyone who sells toys is relatively low on Hasbro product. Now, if you want to say "There isn't a movie so Transformers are being under ordered"...I can believe that. If you want to say "Because of Rise of Cobra, stores are barely ordering G.I.Joe because they didn't sell well." I can believe that. Here's why I don't think that's the case: They are also all VERY low on Star Wars and Beyblade. Star Wars, as far as I know, has been the top selling boys toy for YEAAAAAAAARS show or no show...and stores here have maybe 5 or 6 figures PERIOD...for a HUUUGE SELLER. I don't know if this is true everywhere or not, but Beyblades are big around here. My son is six and most of his classmates are nuts over Beyblade. The local Target made a large space for them at the beginning of the year, but have never gotten in a more than a case or so at a time. So yeah...merely speculation on my part, but I think I'm on to something.

This is also the time of year that retailers order much lower quantities of toys due to inventories and the thought that kids will be spending more time outside and less time buying action figures. Check the water guns and nerf. That is what stores are ordering heavily.
That said, the Star Wars vehicles have been sold out with a grey circle on the tag for over a month at the local Target and as far as I know, the grey circle means the distribution center is out, so you may still be right to a point. The only problem with your logic is that online retailers seem to be having no problem getting product from hasbro. |

Eh, it's always like this at this time of the year. Retailers just don't spend that much on toys in the Spring.

I know that BBTS was shorted on several of their recent Hasbro orders. They only recieved about half of the RTS Voyagers that they ordered. Also, while I KNOW that they order less at this time of year, other non-Hasbro toys are plentiful. Obviously I can't speak for the entire US, but here Bakugan, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Halo figures, Lego, etc. are all full and quickly replenished |

You can't go by what's going on at your local store to conclude that Hasbro is having production problems. I got Star Wars up the wazoo around here. They're literally falling off the pegs because they are so stuffed. I'm seeing the newest waves of Joes even though some Walmarts and TRU seem to be moving away from GI Joe. Got lots of Hasbro product on the shelves and pegs around here.
