I think TTT hit it on the head...
but in all reality, no one knows what the masses will want... they are fickle.

Heres a question: if Joes "are for kids", WHY make the LEADER of Cobra a "hard(er)to find chase" fig, then make a crappy Destro...just to make a WAY COOLER Destro in the next wave? why not make Major Bludd, or Baroness, or ANY OTHER fig? WHY resort to multiple versions of the same character? even as a kid, I did nt want 4 Dukes, slightly different...maybe if they were spaced out more than EVERY WAVE.....

Well when they were 3 per case they clogged 3-4 pegs.
When they went to 1 per case they were the first to go and were never to be seen so I don't think being half naked has much to do with it. Sure there is some interest in half naked women figures but not nearly as much for the other characters in that line when assorted in equal ratios.

i find that in my area there are too many unique figures and not enough troop builders and in my small retail market i seriously buy 50% of what hits the pegs around here. if i stop buying joes stock might start rotting off the shelves before it sells, lol.

Was it any real surprise that Tornado Kick/Whirlwind Kick SE and SS are pegwarmers. I cut Hasbro some slack as it may be hard to figure some pegwarmers out, but then there are the pegwarmers you can spot a mile away. In the case of the SS and SE POC figures, they really should have known better.

I know this sounds like a silly question but why do they make peg warmers? When collectors see pictures of an upcoming wave we can all tell what figures are going to be the ones that no one will want. Even when you were a kid you knew that. Hasbro should know too. Shouldn't they?
the 25th v.2 Snake Eyes was the first 25th peg warmer and nobody predicted that. |

This was something I was curious about. Are all the figures packed in the same numbers? I would imagine generic characters should easily be 2:1, but I'm guessing the logic is "people want main characters". Of course, I doubt kids, the prime demographic, are troop building at $8 a piece...
It seems to me Shock Troopers and Alley Vipers have never been on the shelf ANYWHERE I've seen, I'm guessing because people buy them. Walmart wouldn't be canceling a toy line that actually sold :( |

The real question is why can't they figure out how to pack their case assortments properly. The "Peg Warmer" figures should only be one to a case and ALL army builders should be 2 or 3 to a case and the really cool figures like the w4 snake eyes should be 2 to a case etc. If they did a better job with their assortments figures would sell more evenly.
