Here's the deal, I like the Cobra Shock Troop as the new Blueshirt. I dig the idea of taking Cobra back to its roots--before the plethora of specialized troops with "Viper" suffixes--when Cobra was a terrorist/paramilitary group and not some overblown collection of freaks and dinks. In a related matter, my HoH Firefly's 'footlocker' backpack came sans the little swing-out stand thing and that always pissed me off, but now it's got a definite purpose. So, with all that in mind, I outfitted my Shock Trooper with gear more appropriate to spreading mayhem, terror and dissent. Granted, I didn't accomplish anything earth-shattering here, but I'll be damned if I'm not tickled by the outcome. This is "Cobra" as originally intended, IMO. "The Enemy" who is a self-contained terror machine, ready to commit anything from industrial sabotage to forcible Coup d'Etat.
Not only will those two clip/hinge dealies on top of the backpack hold those baton-type-things, but the sledge hammer can fit there as well (although I don't really like the way it looks) and the gas mask fits nicely between that handle on the vest and the backpack. |

That's a good use for that pack. My HOH Firefly came with the stand, but I will definitely be giving that pack to one of my Shock Troops.
The #1 qualm I have with the Shock Trooper (besides 1 of my 3 had the left hand not bend at the joint) is that they have so much gear, yet can't store any of it besides the tiny walkie-talkie. Nothing so much as a holster or small backpack to peg some items onto. It wouldn't have been that weird to have a clip for the long chucks or a sling for the hammer, or even a holster on their thigh. They come with way too much gear to have it all on there, but half of it? |
