Just opened mine about 20 minutes ago........ and now it’s all packed back up and ready to be brought back to the store! What a hunk of junk. I was really excited for this but the whole Leap frog tread action is a huge turn off. Not to mention its way to small. What a letdown.
God, is making new vehicles like the ’82 to ’86 vehicles so darn hard. On that note, fans have been getting more "wins" with this current line. (IMO) Quote:
Although I agree that the figure is all kinds of nasty choosing that cheap lipstick red motif (rubbing it in even more when you see the ROC Serpent on the back of the box, WTF). I think the vehicle is pretty cool. This and the Doom Cycle seem to be getting a lot of flak, but they are some of the highlights of the line for me.
The "Ice Cutter" is what it says it is, a utility vehicle used to clear ice/snow for Cobra troops to mobilize. A light defensive canon on top, how big does the sucker need to be? I got a couple of these clearing the way for the real power houses -> Arctic Hiss tanks. I don't know but for me both these new Alphas feel more ARAH than the new Bravos, IMHO. The produced Ice Cutter is definitely what Hasbro intended it to be. A light vehicle with cutting power. As a personal preference I would have preferred something light with small platforms (with footpegs) just behind the cockpit. I think this would have made a big difference in the overall functionality of the toy. Again, a different operator would have been better as well. Like our fellow Tanker imnotbradpitt said, if they had included the Arctic Destro figure with this puppy would have been more desirable. Btw, having 2 of these Cutters flanking an arctic HISS would be pretty cool. If they go on sale enough, I may pick one more up. Good on ya! Thanks for voting. Quote:

I haven't gotten this, yet. Most of my beefs are the same as yours, though. The gun and wiper will be getting painted, the figure will go to my youngest so he has a Snow Serpent to play with his older brother, and I. I was planning on using it as my Arctic Destro's personal vehicle, as well, not as a fleet vehicle.
*thumbs up*

Each vehicle had it's own named GI Joe character like Clutch, Leatherneck, Slipstream, Steeler, etc... You can't tell me that these owners were so upset about having to own more of these figures just to build their fleet. Destro is no exception. If they did include a Destro with the Ice Cutter, it wouldn't dissuade anymore collectors and fans.

I will probably at least get one of these, Just because I found the Extreme Conditions COBRA Arctic Assault Squad 7-pack at Marshall's last week and now have a good deal of Cobra Arctic troops (to be led by Destro of course) that need at least one vehicle. I would rather have the Arctic Hiss though, but then again who wouldn't?

I bought this last night 'cause I thought it'd be cute with my Arctic HISSes (yes, I just said that) and I'm pretty sure I'm going to use the Peppermint Snow Serpent for lazy partswap fodder.
I think I'm gonna try the red parachute on ROC Rollbar with Modern Liftticket's red helmet for a sort-of Crazylegs. I know Crazylegs's vest was red and his parachute was khaki in vintage, but f*ck it. shrugs I just realized...POC Snow Serpent with Count Dooku head? SANTA CLAUS!!!

I don’t know, Just think most of the vehicles aren’t on par with the figs. I just can’t help getting upset when I look at the 80’s vehicles and wonder why they can’t do what they did back then. |

It's not like LOTS OF RED hasn't been a staple of Cobra for 27 years or anything

I realize I have been complaining a lot about the vehicles the last 2 days on different threads. On Thursday my son and I just got fed up with trying to "play" with the hiss tank. It doesn't roll, and if you even sneeze the thing pops up into the "up" mode, the bullet belt for the machine gun falls off every time you try to turn the gun, etc....
And then last night I got the Icecutter which I was really looking forward to just to be totally disappointed. I guess I’m just trying to explain why I have been so negative towards some of the vehicles. I don't want to be "Gatchaman" the guy who always complains and has nothing good to say. Ok, enough of that, back on track with the ice cutter review......It sucks. LOL |
