Out of all the initial Duke figures released in the Rise of Cobra line, the most popular was the Reactive Armor version. At the time, that was one of my favorite versions too. Fans definitely prefer the reactive armor to the accelerator suit armor, and Duke was to don reactive armor again.
Duke(City Strike) features a mix of reactive armor parts with parts from Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes. What we end up with is Channing Tatum's dream of becoming a ninja, realized! Well in toy form; maybe. So is City Strike Duke a worthy version of Duke to purchase? Read on... |

With the weapons listed in the above post, the next thing I want to show is how Duke looks wielding these weapons. He comes with a good selection of firearms and I like the addition of the sword and sheath. Combined with the dark paint job, the figure looks similar to a ninja. The only bad aspect is that the hands tend to form a loose grip over time, due to the guns having big handles. This might be easy to fix by warming the hands up just a bit, pressing into shape, then immediately rinsing with cold water.
During the photo shoot, I merely pinched the hands so that they could hold the sword and other weapons better. This helps but the heating technique above works better. The combination of great range of motion and the weapons included provide for lots of fun when posing. |

City Strike Duke is worth picking up. Admittedly, this is one of those figures I thought I would pass on, as I already had the Reactive Armor version and didn't think the sword/sheath went with Duke well. As you could tell by the review, I found no use for the suction cup. I only included it here just to show what the figure came with.
Everything changed once I saw babyjelly's pics of City Strike Duke this past summer. The closer looks changed my mind. I'm glad that this figure goes beyond just being a repaint of Reactive Armor Duke. The legs from Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes have great range of motion and the sword is a good addition, unlike what I thought months ago. As far as the suction cup, I wish we got the harness with ropes and hooks that came with City Strike Snake Eyes and Arctic Threat Snake Eyes. Fits in more with the City Strike theme/motif too. After seeing babyjelly's pics and looking for more images of City Strike Duke, the appeal of the figure grew and I ended up having plans for it. So on the day that I bought it, I excitedly looked forward to adding different gear to him. So while I conclude that this figure is worth picking up, I leave you guys with a bonus... |

As some of you may know, I eagerly anticipated the PIT Commando figures. A ton of gear, multiple ways to configure the figures with gear, and a STEEL BRIGADE helmet! All those accessories with the Dusty body=chock full of win.
Anyways, some of you may also know that I started using the PIT Commando accessories to arm my other Joe figures. The Steel Brigade helmet unfortunately doesn't fit all of the figures, but with some force, even Duke can wear the helmet. I LOVE the vest included with the PIT Commando. Works wonders on other figures. So my plan was to add the vest to City Strike Duke, and try to fit the Steel Brigade helmet on. I had to force the helmet on, and after a lot of pressure, the helmet fit a lot better. It's fit isn't ideal but hey it's on there without Duke's chin drooping below. What we end up having is a City Strike Duke who in my opinion, lives up the City Strike theme more than the standard City Strike Duke figure. Now he looks like an infiltration commando, ready to infiltrate and destroy. The impression I got was that it looks so different that it looks like another figure. Just imagine if the Steel Brigade had some armored ninja and there you go. Or you can pretend Duke got some PIT Commando gear and a sword. Either way, I like it and am glad the Steel Brigade helmet was able to fit albeit forced. Do it if you like the look, but be forewarned, it might scratch the paint apps for the hair, I think that's what happened to mine. |

Too bland of a figure to rate for just his appearance as Duke in this figure, another spot taken away by another kitbashed reapint of Duke.... He can be just about any other figure, so he is nothing more than just a parts grab bag.
A plus is his head looks really good on Jungle Strike Wayanes though... Last edited by CrimsonGuard101; 12-08-2009 at 04:23 AM.. |

10/10 for me! Bloody love it! I really like Duke in his RoC character (not so much channings acting) but I like that the figure looks like Action Man of my youth and wears clothes that remind me of Flints, albiet a more modern take (and by that I mean camou pants and black top)
ok, so I know a lot of you dislike RoC, and a lot hate this figure, but for me, at least, it represents the kind of modern cooler vibe and slightly fantasty unrealism I want from my Joes. RoC really got me into arah for the first time - before then it was the uk version, action force, which concentrated more on 85 onwards . So, great figure, looks nice, great accessories, modern and looks like my old Action Man. I have 3 of this figure, one moc, so I might add the riot vest!
