Hey all, I got a few more of these in the mail this week and wanted to share. Some of you have probably seen these on Ebay sold by a guy called the Black Major. I decided to get a few and see what they were like. Took a few pics as well.
Basically, they seem to be a remold of the original Cobra Trooper. You can tell they took a mold of the original production figure because the holes in the feet are noticeably smaller - well, noticeable when you try and put the figure on a stand. It's pretty much impossible. I imagine you could try and sand down the peg a bit if you were so inclined, but luckily they stand pretty good on their own. The figures are pretty high quality for what they are. For those of you who are familiar with international figures, I'd say they aren't quite as good as figures made in Brazil - maybe a bit more like the ones in Argentina. They feel like better quality figures than Funskool figures (although I've heard that Funskool ones vary in quality, so maybe this isn't true in all cases). The paint apps are pretty sharp overall, although I've noticed a couple "lazy apps" here and there. Kind of the sort of thing you sometimes see on production figures, so I can't fault the makers of this too much. The Cobra symbols and Red Shadow logos are stamped on there somehow - not painted. Bad Points: A couple of my figures have what I wouldn't call loose, but maybe "semi-loose", joints. A couple have it in the elbow, but they're still good enough to hold a weapon. A few others have VERY SLIGHTLY loose knees - not unlike the knees of the 25th/Modern Era Snow Serpents, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. It's not too bad, but you never see that sort of thing with an original RAH figure - at least, not without heavy play. One other very minor complaint - I think the plastic used for the Crimson Trooper would have been better suited to the Red Shadow Trooper, and vice versa. That way, both figures would have matched the production figures of their respective factions a little better (i.e. the Red Shadow Trooper would have matched up better with Red Laser, and the Crimson Troopers would have looked a little bit more like the original CGs). Also, I think the grey used on the web gear would have looked better if it was a bit darker. Good Points: I won't get into the plastic quality/joints too much here, as I've already gone over it, but overall, it's very good. Not '80s RAH quality good, but pretty damn good. Much better than I expected. You get a repro Dragunov sniper rifle with each one, which is a nice touch I suppose. The best part about these, though, is the variety - so far I've got white "Arctic" versions, red, black, Red Shadows, green camo and urban camo. He also sells desert camo versions, and more are coming! (I won't give away the surprise, but I've seen a pic and I'm very excited about it.) On a more controversial note, he does sell a repro Viper Pilot. I may pick up a couple but I hope people don't try to pass these off as the real thing down the road. It's a nice "gap filler" for those unwilling or unable to pay for a minty original. I don't have one of these yet but I may include one in my next purchase At any rate, I like them. I know there might be some controversy over the fact that they're not official Hasbro products, but seeing as how Hasbro has pretty much abandoned the RAH format there's no other way we'd get to own figures like this. Anyway, I would definitely recommend these to RAH collectors. I give 'em an 8/10. Hope you enjoyed my little review (my first) - now for some more pics: First time we ever get Red Shadows! They also make great vehicle crewmen:

Everytime I look over at the eBay sidebar and see these listed, I keep hoping someone repainted the 25th figures.
Still, were I inclined to collect the vintage stuff, I'd probably own several of these to fill my generic ranks. Especially in the case of Red Shadows and camo troopers. They do look pretty nice overall. |

I recently bought the night versions still waiting on them. I pretty much miss the first wave on some of these sadly. I like them for what they are and true collectors will know how to spot the real one for the fake ones.

I think you might be able to get some if you contact the seller on Ebay.

I've been meaning to pick up a Viper Pilot for the longest time.
I really want an original, but it's hard to find one in good condition with a nice silver chest symbol.

They are ok, would be way better if they were 25th ones, I woul dhave bought 10 of each if they were mordern era. I can not STAND o-ring figures...especially in the age of way better figure articualtion for joes. They just look stupid side by side with my 25th/ME collections boxed up all of my OG figures as a result. Why does the re done have a skull n bones on his chest?
