Looks like Copperhead got A LOT dirty and Swamp Viper puked on his whole body and it dried. But alas, I have a Pit with 12 figures, so another vehicle is not what I need at the moment. Custom female figs I could use though Last edited by M. Aster Karver; 12-02-2009 at 10:04 AM.. |

Hit me up when I get it, I don't want this Copperhead, but want the boat so I'll sell you the one I get.

Great review, SB! Your pics are great, as always. I love seeing the comparison shots to previous releases.
I'm pretty excited about this set. I missed out on the 25th/ME version. It's good to know that the colors turned out well. The burgundy looked more pink in the previous pics, but I'm diggin' the "swamp camo" look.

I actually like the colors, especially the swamp viper and the mocassin. The color scheme kinda matches a Cobra Moray and would make a good convoy / escort. Although I don't really need this boat. Got 2 already. Hasbro please put out the Moray in 2010!

I love the original Copperhead—despite the tacky colors he's wearing—but he remains my default nonetheless, stuck in his 80s glory. The Wal-Mart exclusive and the PP Copperheads both look atrocious, but this new one looks really cool in that scheme, and I think the knife and pockets are a little cooler than his original gear on the first 25th version, and work well for a 2009 update. The sculpt itself still works today.
That repainted Water Moccasin looks terrible though, I have no idea how you guys even think it looks remotely good. Their design team simply has no clue, honestly. The first WM re-sculpt was very cleanly done, and then they put the garish PP Copperhead with it. Okay, I can go with "hey, better than getting the comic pack one again" and they threw a bone to the PP fans. That didn't work much as a set, but there's a bit of a strategic reasoning behind it, I guess. Here, they have a chance to start fresh, and make a cohesively designed set, but instead we get a more muted, real-world colored Copperhead, and then they throw in lime green AVAC (which wouldn't look bad if that terrible lime green was closer to one of the tones on Copperhead) and a paintjob that didn't look like piss. The individual items could work separately I guess, but they don't really go together as a set. The boat would look much better with a better camo pattern, or simply one solid color that doesn't make your eyes hurt. You simply can't focus on anything, it's just too busy. You can't go with the "realistic swamp camo" defense when there are bright red flame graphics all over the sides, which stand out like a sore thumb. This is just a poorly designed set, all around, with the only positive things being the Copperhead figure and the sculpt of the Moccasin, which is fantastic, but completely wasted in that godawful pattern. The AVAC repaint is so close to the Target exclusive that it just shows how lazy they were being with this one, and actually close to being decent, but the plum/brown color combined with that neon green just do not work at all. This thing still looks like a giant piece of crap. Too bad b/c if they'd painted it something like black or dark grey or some combination therein, it would have looked better. As it is..that paint job is just...terrible. And I like the vehicle, I have 4 of them...no need for an ugly version of it.
Same with the figures. Hell they could've even taken it in a different direction and given us a Night Force version of it. Even with cheesy orange accessories. |

Theres no denying that the new mold water moc is excellent, but the color scheme on this one doesnt look good to me, Copperhead is Copperhead, and the Swamp Viper doesnt really do it for me, just because we all know he is an AVAC in a boat.
