Hey mods, if this is Verboten just Let me know. I just know that a lot of collectors here use the action force weapons packs to kit out there Joe's. And Wanted them to be able to identify the weapons in the Crimson Shadow pack, as well as Echo, Foxtrot and Golf. At over an hour long I take a deep dive into the real world weapons that were used for the action force molds. Some of them are cutting edge. Others are silly beyond belief. None of them seem to have been chosen because of any particular knowledge on the subject. But all of them are incredibly detailed.
Let me know if this is something you guys would like to see done with the G.I. Joe Classified weapons. A little harder because so many of them are fantasy weapons, but most have a grain of real world weapon systems at their core. https://youtu.be/W5rpmD_Yh1w?si=4bbf9UID1KTuEITv |

Does it actually matter if a weapon (especially one in an accessory set) is based on a real gun or is even suitable for a situation? Almost all of these lines, choose things based on rule of cool. Does Rippers pistol haven't a baronet on it really make sense tactically (hell do Ripper and Buzzer really make much sense tactically)?

Oh no, nothing so fancy, or expensive, These are actually just the Call of Duty Modern warfare 2 goggles that came with the special edition several years back. On a side note, they actually still work, and even have IR blasters for darker environments. Heh, I deftly wouldn't trust my life on these though.

Gonna remove this from the Action Force context, and into a broader 1/12 weapons discussion real quick:

Does Rippers pistol haven't a baronet on it really make sense tactically (hell do Ripper and Buzzer really make much sense tactically)? On the other hand, Action Force has sort of presented itself as militaria (in a way). And Bobby Vala has had a lot to say about the accuracy and research that goes into the line. For play purposes these are fine, but when you are reproducing original details, all the way down to the selector switch having two positions instead of three, You are sort of inviting a little bit of criticism as to why that particular model was chosen. Valaverse has been very careful not to give any credit as to the original designers of the weapons, and has just sort of plucked things from the internet at random ( i.e. people's personal rifle builds in some cases). And I think that shows a distinct lack of respect for the seriousness of what they are reproducing. If you're going to be scaling down hyper detailed versions of actual weapons platforms, I think that there should be a little bit of thought that goes into it rather than just going the Hollywood "all weapons are magic" route. But I'm sure this will only grate on the people who know and are familiar with the subject. And I am the guy who gets a little annoyed that all of my G.I. Joe's are practicing very poor trigger control, with their fingers always being in the trigger guard. All I'm saying is that if you're going to base them on real weapons, put a little forethought into why your choosing to exactly replicate that specific platform, rather than just propagating more ignorance on the subject. But like I said, in the end they are just toys , I just thought I would call them out on it. Last edited by Strange Form; 12-07-2023 at 02:21 PM.. |

And let me give a quick case in point here, as to why some of these decisions might get on some collectors nerves. The write up on the swarm says that it's unknown where these things came from, or how advanced their weaponry and tactics are. But the tech is far superior to any that has ever been encountered on the battlefield.
And in flies a giant bee-man Holding a civilian legal semi automatic (one trigger pull one shot) government compliant Barrel length 9 mm, that can be picked up at any gun shop and doesn't even have an extended magazine. On top of that he's got an integrated suppressor handgun that was pulled from the market because of lack of interest, and a CSGO knife that he probably got from a convenience store... They just aren't selling me on the fantasy. |

That's part of his entire point. And you're helping him make it with that response. A civi pistol is different than a gov'd out thing. They aren't selling the fantasy by giving them total normie guns.
Lately I've been digging some of the more out there GIS weapons.
