I found a case of W3 Retro figures yesterday. There is only 1 LJ per case. She is basically a repainted 50th LJ with brighter greens and the new face printing technology:
I liked this figure enough back in 2014 to make it as my Ultimate LJ so far. The new face printing is better than the 50th , but the right eye and hair line on the left seem to still be derpy as hell: I kind of like the more muted colors on the 50th figure. Here is the Retro head on the 50rh figure: It's ok I guess. Here are all of the ME LJ's I have: Pros: This figure is OK overall, and has the Shock Trooper legs which are useful custom parts. Cons: We already got this figure in 2014. The face printing is better but still derpy. They cut back on her accessories. She came with a lot more in 2014. (I like it when there are a ton of accessories, as they can be used for customs.) She is only one per case. Overall: Like most of this Retro line, she is OK, but could have been a lot better.

I've never had a Lady J figure before. Maybe I'll get this one and put a Marauder head on her.

Wow! The face painting is a definite improvement even if it's not perfect. The 50th version was right in the middle of a period of pretty bad QC and didn't do the figure proper justice. I actually kind of like the richer colors on this one though it's definitely a matter of preference.

Cool review, appreciate the side by sides. Wave 1 and 2 I grabbed at least one of everyone. Wave 3 I just totally passed on the single carded figures. Lady Jaye was the one I was on the fence with to grab for a custom but then decided that I could just use some of the Val parts I need to get out of my fodder bins.
Do actually really like the brighter green on the new one though. And the face looks really good. Wish she didn’t have the hat, if it was a new sculpt cartoon head I would have gotten her.

Thanks for the review. Side by sides are really helpful.
Skin tones don’t look too far off. I think I’ll try the headswap as I prefer the 50th colors as well. |

Thanks for the review. I like the 50th colors better too. I prefered her without the hat though. Wish they actually used this head or gave an alternate head to be able to swap.

A huge thanks for the review and side-by-sides. And a special thanks for the written review instead of another crappy YouTube video.
I'm torn on the colours. I really like the muted colours on the 50th version, but this one looks pretty good as well. The face is way better than the 50th. |

Amen! I’m sure I’m just being an old guy, but I can’t stand review videos. Nothing beats good quality pictures for a review.

Thanks for the LJ useful review/pictures! Both versions look nice IMO, they were both recreated using Shock Trooper legs and the figure looks nice and clean overall. Although the head with the new face printing is an improvement, I'd have liked to see the head Nightwawk swapped it with or even a new sculp.
Definitely worth getting, as it can be used to make a Night Ops version of LJ out of it; never had that one & it costs way too much to get it now. |
