I got Flash Gordon with the lunch box today from BFS!!!
We will start with the lunch box: Front: Clockwise turn: Back: Clockwise turn: Top: Bottom: Open: The load out: I love the football scene in the movie: Let's fight: The Football pegs onto a throwing hand!!! Just awesome: He comes with (new for BFS) swivel ankles: He's serious about his dancing!!! 70's Duke: Pros: BFS has knocked it out of the park with all the details!!! The head sculpts are just awesome!!! And the paint deco is so true to the movie. The art on the lunch box is spot on!!! Cons (more like nit-picks): Due to the swivel ankles, there is a lot of bulk just under the rigid pant cuffs. Therefore, the ankles have no dorsiflexion. In order to get him to stand on his own, you have to flex his torso forward: The lack of dorsiflexion also makes action poses difficult unless you use a stand. I think the ZL figures had this same problem, but they could dorsiflex just a little more to allow them to stand up straighter. The pegs on the BFS stand are too wide for his foot holes. That's why I had to use the Joe stand seen above. You will need to narrow the pegs with vertical cuts if you want to use that stand. The last nit-pick (and this is more of a movie nerd thing) is that BFS has Sam Jones throwing the football with his left hand. Sam Jones threw the ball with his right hand exclusively in the movie. Its not a big issue though. Overall: This is a great figure for Display purposes and is a great way to kick off this line!!! I will be sticking with the movie figures only when they release more figures. Now say it with me: FLASH... AAAaaa!!!

Great review! I'm a big BFS fan, especially of the Fantasy and Greek lines. I've been on the fence with the Hero HACKS but I might branch out and pick a few of them up.

I can't wait for more Hero HACKS.
As an aside, that head sculpt would make a great Tomax/Xamot. |

Per the advice of Hushed, I put the ankles in hot water for a bit and now he has substantial dorsiflexion:

I have never been a Flash Gordon fan, but this figure is very cool looking. I almost pulled that trigger. Thank you for sharing.
