Hi everyone,
I would like to know if any of you could give me advice on the following please. I have bought a 1982 straight-arm Zap and according to the buyer, it's an all-original figure. What worries me is that I have seen listings where people mention they're selling figures with replaced arms (casted in a matching green with painted hands) as seen in this listing: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/GI-JOE-1982-ZAP/143528583811 I just want to make sure I did not land on one of those. I have attached the best pictures. Your input is appreciated, Thanks in advance. |

Your greens should be a perfect match, as far as I know. I have little experience with straight arms, but it would stand to reason that they'd have been molded using the same plastic.
Impossible to say with pics if that's truly the case, but they look good to me. A caster would be able to get pretty close color-wise, but I doubt it would be perfect.

Thanks a lot Sataninjaku, much appreciated.
I realised that the ones that have casted arms seem to have beefier fingers (especially the thumbs) and shorter hands, anyway, I might not have the eye... Anyone, your input is very valuable. Thanks |

I think you're ok. The thumbs do seem to be chunkier on the re-cast.
If you're not convinced, you could put a bazooka in his hands (carefully) and see if the paint scratches... |

I think the figure is original but his hands have been painted over. Looks like a 2nd coat over an original coat .

Actually some of the later '82 straight arm figures were upgraded with thicker thumbs. Your biggest telltale would be the rivet at the elbow, which from your pictures looks legit.
