YAY, my 7 packs arrived today. Here are my thoughts:
Chuckles - He's all right, but could have used a better arm and weapon. Wet-Suit - pretty cool, but would it have been that hard to paint an Eel helmet orange instead of giving him the wrong style of gear? Hit and Run - I have no idea who this guy is, but I like his design despite his helmet and backpack constantly falling out. Ripcord - Or should I say Red-Star!! Yeah, they used Red Star's head (and hair color) for him, which just looks awkward. Also, it seems like his oxygen mask connects to an invisible hole or something, as I see nothing to put it in. Zap - pretty awesome, but his helmet is too big and I think the picture has his rocket launcher faced wrong. Outback - another Joe who I have no idea who this is, but the body is pretty cool. I do not remember the original toy having a best though, but his gun is pretty awesome despite it not staying in his hands for crap. Recondo - Probably my favorite of the Joes here, as he stands out from the rest. Very cool figure, no complaints at all. Night Creeper - Kind of cool, but he looked better in the pictures online, as his head gear is way too thick. Damaged BAT - WTF?! This is the worst of the bunch. I thought it was going to be cool, but you can hardly tell there is any damage at all. Would it have been that hard to maybe make a damaged arm to go with the head and hard to tell chest? I took one of his hands off, which made a slight improvement, but I woudl rather have had either another Alley Viper, or someone more meaningful like Zaranna. Lamprey - Never heard of this trooper until recently, so I'm not exactly sure of his purpose other than what the file card says. The design is decent, but overall, a weak figure. Air-Viper - Could be better, could be worse, but at least I do not have to hunt down a vehicle pack with him in it. Range-Viper - This figure just plain out rocks. I never card for this figure before until I put him in my hand. He is just down right kick ass looking and frightening. I wish I could own more of this dude. Dr Mindbender - Could be a bit better, but overall, I like him. His head seems a little too wide, but other than that, no complaints. Now if they could only use that cape for a new Serpentor figure... Alley Viper - I've never been a fan of this guy due to his awkward color scheme, but this figure is so freaking awesome he has now become one of my favorite cobra troopers, and is by far the best out of both sets. There are two gripes I do have about him though. The first being that the grappling hook gun does NOT connect to the backpack even though it has an imprint of it on it. As for the second, the hands are too wide to hold onto the shield, which sucks, as it limits the posses you can display him in. Overall, I am glad we got these figures and it is sad to that this is the end of the anniversary line, for now at least. Still, I do wish they would have mass produced these on single cards, as I would have loved to get more Range and Alley Vipers. Oh, and I still wish they would have given us Covergirl and Jnix for the Joes instead of Outback and Ripcord (especially since they don't even call him Ripcord).

Tried that, but the hand would not close tight enough.

Boil and then hold it closed under cold water. Also, the shield stays on really well if you have him hold it lengthwise aganst his arm, like he's going to stab someone with the top of it (which is a damn good argument for the design). It looks cool as hell when you got a line of them.
As for the Lamprey, I'm in the same boat, I never heard of them, but I welcome any addition to my Eels and divers. Also, the removable transparent faceplate is a major win. Also, while the "damage" on the BATs could have been better, I like that they included an intact head and chestplate to bulk up my existing reserves. My only complaint is that they looks a little too new without a black wash. |

I haven't opened mine yet but I see Chuckles got the Main Frame "reach around" hand. What is he supposed to do with that? At least Doc had a purpose for it and they don't give it to him.

I remember Lamprey I got one at a flea market when I was about 10 yrs old. Me getting Joe vehicles as a kid I was lucky just to get a figure or 2 growin up. So I had Lamprey loose no gun no filecard and no Hydrofoil.

I did not know that's where the Orange Viper's gun went. Cool. I attached it under the shield so he can have it while still using the defense.
