I don't know what is going on with these accessories but I think i've filled out my last order with Marauder Gun Runners. Its way too hit or miss for me now.

Guns are completely off scale - take a look at the HK416 as well as the MP5 RIS's.

The 1911 Storm Shadow is holding is one of the standard handguns most action figures come with.

Sure its only been my last two orders and the weapons are cheap enough but as a consumer I want what i pay for - especially with the currency conversion from U.S to Canada right now.

I always thought the 1911 from Hasbro was painfully out of scale, plus these guys make these weapons for more than just the ME Joes.

Yeah, some of those Hasbro 1911s are way way too big. I suspect, and I might have to go measure some, that MGR are spot on 1:18. MP5s are not particularly large. The MGR 1911 is about the same size as the DG Duke 1911 which are both bigger than the very well sculpted BBi 1911s I have with some of their WWII figures.

Also, GI Joe has been creeping up in size.

I have never actually measured any of the toy guns to check scale, but a real 1911 is supposedly 8.25" long according to Wikipedia. So if the Joe one is 0.458333333" long then it's accurate in scale, at least length-wise.

If anyone is highly concerned about accurate 1:18 scale from MGR I would recommend researching real weapon dimensions, then bust out the calipers and check your Joes' gear to see if it's right or not. I would guess that comparing MGR product to Hasbro product probably won't tell you much in most cases.

That said, I don't think MGR weapons actually are accurately scaled, even when they claim to be. For example, this AK-47 ("Accurate 1:18 scale recreation of the classic AK- 47Assault Rifle.") looks like the shortest AK-47 they offer in a quick look at their pages. It is 2.125" long, making it 38.25" if it were scaled up 18x to be life-sized. A real AK-47 with a fixed stock (the standard wooden stock, which this looks like it is supposed to be) is a bit over 34" in length. And it looks like most of the other AK-47 offerings are even longer than that one. Results are very similar for the M4 carbines as well. I think MGR took liberties to make them look better in the limited-range-of-motion action figure arms.

If you're a scale purist (and I am not saying there is anything wrong with that) you will probably have to do your homework and check the actual 1:18 dimensions against what MGR says their product measures before buying. I would agree that they shouldn't be advertising that the scale is "accurate" if it's not. But at least they do publish the items' lengths (assuming those measurements are correct).

In any case, I'd write them a note and see what they can do for you. Their customer service is, from what I hear, legendary.

I get it - and I don't disagree at all.

Those MP5's are comically small however - they look like pistols! They're terrible. Even the MP9 I purchased dwarfs them. The HK416 may not look it - but its very obvious when held it is way off too.

That 1911 looks as joe accurate as its going to get the way I look at it. It can't be too far off IMO. Its looking pretty good in Storm Shadows hand at least. Just picture any one of those numbers in his grip and you'll get an idea of how off they are.

I should also state that I wasn't looking for true 1:18 but something close enough and as accurate to joe scale as possible.

I think the most important thing to note here is that they should be labelled accordingly on the website. It can be very misleading when it is an extreme close up of the rifle/pistol etc.

People need to know this when ordering from them - and to note, im actually surprised no one has spoken out about them before!

I think part of the problem is that Marauder started his company making weapons for 3.75" ARAH figures. As time goes on, Joes have been creeping up in size to nearly 6" for some figures.

Another issue is popular usage of terms. A lot of people still use the 3.75" terminology, when most figures are now 4". 1:18 scale is usually referring to model kits or high end collector vehicles. Most mass market toy companies only care that their toys work within the line.

Most of the descriptions on Marauder's site say 1:18 weapon scaled for use with all 3.75" figures. That should tell you the wide range of figures these weapons have to fit. As stated before, Marauder includes the weapon length in the description. They've also put up pictures of the weapon in a figure's hand for the later waves to give you an idea of what you're working with. The only thing he can really do is caliper measure all his weapons to three decimal places, but most people still won't research actual weapon dimensions beforehand.

Some of the lengths would still be a bit off; because, Marauder shortens some the stocks to get the weapons to fit better in a figure's hands.

Would you look at that....someone with some sense about the topic.

Yeah, I really really want to say that the "bigger bullet" HK referenced in that thread is the HK417, not HK416, and while I am a 7.62 fan myself, owning a couple real ones, the MGR FOS doesn't look like a 7.62, the magazines are very different looking. But, HK+7.62x51=awesomeness. That is Marine algebra.

The last batch of marauder inc weapons are too small. I like modularity, but when picking a gun for a figure i tend to go with the older not so modular ones.

The main problem with in scale weapons is the length of the stock.
As modern joes still do not have double jointed arms, yopu can't let them hold the weapon correctly with 2 hands in a shooting position. There are some exception, notably those with short, thin stocks

I hope the next wave will be bigger again, but with a shorter stock then in scale, that would resolve most problems.
