That’s not true. Sgt. Savage was a passion project for Kirk Bozigan, spurned on by his own child’s diss on GI Joe as not being “as big” as the child’s Batman toys. Had 1995 proceeded as planned, this is what the brand would have looked like:
Sgt. Savage and his Screaming Eagles (with animated special) Battle Corps Rangers/Battle Rangers Ninja Commandos Star Brigade (with the Manimal and Replicator sub-themes and an animated special) 12” Hall of Fame and a likely expansion to more WW2 themed ideas. A lot of people get all misty-eyed over not getting Battle Rangers, they forget the other segments of GI Joe that would have been released during that year. Extreme was Kenner making a toy line in most Kenner way possible. The history of that time is very interesting to hear though since I was oblivious to it while it was happening. I always enjoy hearing from people who can provide the back story into what transpired and why they shelved ARAH. |

I must have remembered things wrongly. No hard feelings, I'm here to share and learn. Memories are funny things. They get muddled with age and opinion.

A lot of info I’ve garnered on this era comes from the amazing work done by the JoeDeclassified guys, the holy tome of toy history Toy Wars, and extrapolation based on those information sources. For example, lead times for a major product rollout with animated series is AT LEAST a year. There is no way Sgt. Savage’s inclusion in Extreme was in any way effected by the performance of his product line because Extreme would have been in production by the time the line had even hit retail.

Today's new profile is the 2001 Double Blast:
https://forgotten--figures.blogspot....ble-blast.html There is no need for this new character, but there was a tremendous need for the V1 Roadblock mold to return. As such, Double Blast isn't a bad figure to own, but he's better seen as a Roadblock repaint than a new character.

Today's new profile is the 2006 Viper from the Viper Pit set:
https://forgotten--figures.blogspot....viper-pit.html Visually, this figure is great. But, the poor quality of these figures greatly limit their usage.

Both lines have a wealth of fun kitbashed weapons. They're usually cheap, but not overly easy to find unless you buy a complete figure.

Today's new profile is the Black Major Cobra De Aco:
https://forgotten--figures.blogspot....r-version.html The De Aco isn't a great figure. But, his color scheme is very reminiscent of BATs which debuted the same year.

I have the Red Laser Aco custom. I love it. Sure, the straight arms are annoying, but it's just sitting on a shelf, so they don't bother me too much.
