Thanks for all the nice words, folks!
I will admit, I was bummed as well when I was fidgeting with Destro in hand. He is a bit tough to get to stand upright (at least mine was) and the hip movement is a bit of a downer. But he's standing on a shelf now with my classic Cobra display, and I can't help but think how awesome he looks just standing there, even if he is a bit of a hassle to handle. Leatherneck's nose looks to just be a defect for that one figure, I wouldn't look too deeply into that. Pretty sure that's just a "one off". Once again, thanks much for the kind words. Check the first post in the thread, I've got links to HEAT Viper and Night Viper up! |

First I must say--thanks so much for this, I've always loved your particular reviews, it's always so clear what a font of deep Joe knowledge lies behind them. Informative, and enjoyable!
Now, as to the figures themselves...damn, if these are indication of the rest of the 50th product...that is a big bad DOWNER. Soft plastic. Pigeon-toes. Both are principle reasons I was sooooo disappointed with the Retaliation Jinx figure. If Destro is indeed afflicted with these problems, as indicated—then I want nothing to do with the figure. Most anticipated, to most avoided. And forget releasing Vault Gung-Ho. I don’t want him, not under these conditions. I eagerly await the rest of the reviews. They will help me decide which pre-orders to cancel, and which to retain. I was all-in with this small line—something I have never been before, not even with POC or 30th. But I was all-in, ready to “do my part for the brand” on the assumption that the quality would at least be on par with, say, Retaliation wave 3.5. But hell, maybe this latest info is just a hard slap to the head, to knock a crazy notion (“support the brand!”) out of my skull, and remind me of my original intention with these toys—buy quality, and forget the crap. I should probably hold my tongue until more reviews come out. OOPS. But I have a sinking feeling right now. My two most anticipated figures—the two “newest” figures, basically—and at least one is looking like a failure. This does not augur well… |

Possibly, but they would be considerably skinnier and probably wouldn't look real great aesthetically.

Hasbro is like those Persian rug weavers who always leave one imperfection because only God is perfect. ;)
In this case, I'm sure GH is right and the plastic used is due to cost. Makes me wonder how much the average Joe collector would be willing to pay per figure for good plastic/"perfection." Not enough, I'd wager. |

Oh hell yes! The more of these other ultimate figures we get, the more glaring of an omission Major Bludd appears. The 25th Anniversary one wasn't awful by any stretch, but I still dream of an articulated armored arm, a removable helmet, and much better sculpted head...

Thanks for the reviews...HEAT Viper looks good, but does have obvious flaws within the purple parts. He looks like the best out of the four.
As for the Night Viper, I'm not too thrilled with his color scheme, but I have to wonder, is his color scheme similar to the Retaliation Alley Vipers?

Awsome reviews! Love your site..always checking it for news =)
But I have a feeling that the final product we'll get will be different somehow. Especially Leatherneck...I just hope that the camouflage won't be so "parted"...The cheap plastic...well...they reduce quality..we get cheap figures. Anyway..just a reminder..to be ready to re-new the reviews if its necessary =)

Great reviews, as always. I've always enjoyed the writing and reviews on GenaralsJoes. It's the best Joe review site out there, easily.
That said, I'm slightly bummed to hear about the cheap plastic issues that the 50th figures apparently have. Also, did anyone notice that Leatherneck's head and arms are two completely different flesh tones? Of course, that could just be the flash at work...that tends to highlight even the smallest differences in color.

Not buying more than one of this Night Viper. I'm just going to use him as an officer and that's it. My go-to will be the Retaliation green ones and POC Jungle Vipers.
