I agree with targetsix good review bad toys absolutely terrible sure their cheap .. But if it walks like a duck ,and it quacks like a duck , its a DUCK .. My son when he was younger like really little didnt even want those figures he didnt like power rangers . He had good taste even as a child i even offered to buy them and he wasnt interested at all ... They are pretty terrible, they are almost deformed looking .. I would be embarrassed to work for that toy company ...
I also like the retro vibe from them, as they remind me of the fun, no-name toys I used to have as a kid, which I always found more interesting than the big name lines like Star Wars, etc.

I say make them even more like ME joes! Some extra parts figures at corps price would be cool.

Well i feel everybody has an opinion , and im not one to stifle another persons opinion .. But you cant do anything with them hands are too big the weapons suck like that half bike and that little robot thing ... And i grew up with joes since the beginning its hard to go back to shitty articulation with no custom potential ... And the only retro vibe that they have is lack of creativity in form and function .. Terrible figures just terrible ..

I dont collect The Corps, but I will admit I am more impressed with it sometimes than I am with GI Joe. Until the recent limited articulated figures, the figures werent bad for what they were going for, they had at least developed some personalities. While I am a Joe first kind of guy, I was more impressed with The Corps than I was with Retaliation at times.
I think for the cost of what goes into The Corps, and what comes out of it, seems far more impressive than what Hasbro puts into GI Joe and gets out of it at times. And this is the modern era Corps line. Never liked the older ones. This sums up my perspective. Relatively speaking you get a fair amount of "bang" for your literal "buck" ($1-2 )with the modern Corps! figures (the New Recruits). I can't help but wonder if Lanard knows that later hip movement would be worth the extra .50 cents in cost per figure at retail due to making them THE only Joe alternative on the pegs? |

Which is a shame, as I think whoever sculpts their stuff could do wonders with a bigger budget.

And I agree 100% that swivel hips would be awesome. But I think Lanard probably take the view that ''well, Hasbro is doing 5-PoA figures, why should we spend more money when our figure are already better?'' Which is a shame, but it makes sense from a financial point of view.

I've got to say I'm quite fond of The Corps! figures - they have detail and personality. The major problem as already noted is the T-crotch. I'm also quite fond of World Peacekeepers, but the sculpt of the Marine (if only there were a decently camouflaged base GI Joe figure) unfortunately lacks detail (and shape!)
Now I talk about detail, and fine the later Joe figures are now very detailed which is great (though often quite dull in terms of colouring detail) but it would have been great to see more detail on some of the earlier releases (e.g. very dull Deep Size/Torpedo wet suit sculpt vs The Corps! Sea Squad members, even removing moulded on weapons and kit; The Corps! Terra Team I think it equally pretty cool in terms of detail/character) Re. small children (or indeed anyone ;)) playing with figures, my nearly-3-year-old daughter is quite happy playing with a mix of Corps!, ARAH and 25th figures, and probably prefers ARAH as they have leg articulation but not so much as to be difficult to pose. The 25th onwards are realistically terrible in terms of all of the removable kit - webgear is fine, it won't fall off (and now even looks about right rather than as if it's supposed to be removable) but most helmets are best left at home to avoid their being lost and empty holsters are such a shame (as the weapons will almost invariably fall out). I think that now with a small child playing with action figures I can certainly appreciate the moulded-on wonderful detail of the ARAH line and would realistically welcome its return keeping at least some of the 25th+ articulation (double knee joints good, anything more than the standard rotating wrists fairly pointless) Let the abuse begin ;) Last edited by lardman; 07-02-2014 at 03:27 PM.. Somebody once told me it's pretty easy to fix their hips with just a bit of dremeling but who know how much it would cost to create and cast new pieces at source? I think they did ball-jointed hips for the Dragon-Do line (a range I've never seen anywhere and were it not for a few reviews online I'd believe were a myth) but they were 6'' tall.
And I agree 100% that swivel hips would be awesome. But I think Lanard probably take the view that ''well, Hasbro is doing 5-PoA figures, why should we spend more money when our figure are already better?'' Which is a shame, but it makes sense from a financial point of view. And agreed. That question was primarily rhetorical . I understand Lanards perspective and considering their longevity you can't argue with success. How much more success would they have with increased articulation? While i think a significant amount perhaps it really wouldn't justify the additional tooling cost. And , yeah, outside of online reviews i've yet to see one in real life (re: Dragon Do). |

I've liked about all the new sculpt Corps figures since the new body design in the early 2000's.Sure the rainbow brigade figures from 2007 were odd but most of them make great bad guys to go along with the Maurader bad guys.
Dollar General has most of the latest offerings in 2 packs for 3 bucks. Its a good way to get the repaints without having to get the less articulated figures. |
