While some are waiting for the infamous Retaliation 'Ultimate' wave to hit retail pegs, many of us preorder the wave back in May. I am part of the few that have received their cases that we have so patiently waited for. I'll start my first review on the star of G.I. Joe Retaliation, The Rock as Roadblock. Per the memo on the back of the card, Roadblock is the new team leader. He battles Cobra with his "Battle-Kata" fighting system. Roadblock uses his unique on-the-fly weapon switching with martial arts to take out Cobra.
This wave 3 Roadblock uses the same mold that was use on wave 2 "Battle-Kata" Roadblock back in February. Though a solid figure, Hasbro decided to do a few changes with 'Utimate' Roadblock. The first thing you will notice gone are the huge holsters that stored his Kata fighting system. On his left leg he gets the pouches that are from Snake Eyes v54. His right leg has a new holster with pistol. I really like this new holster and it looks like something that could have been used with all the Joe Resolute figures. Roadblock also gets a new head sculpt that sports a 5:00 clock shadow with goatee. Besides the huge holsters the next thing you'll notice gone is the unnecessary Arashikage tattoo. He now has his tribal tattoo on the new upper arms. With the subtle changes, this figure is a lot more accurate compared to the first two Roadblocks in previous waves. Accessories, accessories and more accessories. Hasbro really went all out with accessories on this wave. Roadblock has all the "Battle-Kata' accessories that he got on his w2 version figure. The vest no longer has the white painted sheath. We now get a silver wash and the 'R' he has in the Movie. He also gets a pistol, a combat knife, ammo belt, a SAW machine gun (new mold), a heavy machine gun(also a new mold) that can also be used on the new Tomahawk. Like the first wave figures he also comes with some sort of zip/rappeling line that I have no idea how to use. I'm surprised he didn't come with any instruction since Firefly and Combat Ninja did for their accessories. Overall, this is definitely a huge improvement over the first two Roadblocks we got for the Retaliation line. He is definitely Movie accurate with tons of accessories. He's just an awesome figure that is amazingly improved on the mold of w2. I would highly recommend this figure for any collection. And most of us will with preordered cases.

Good Setup for the review! like the comparison photos and the layout of accessories!
Its a bummer if you got the 2nd release of Roadblock for the Retaliation series. Though they are different, this 3rd release (or 2nd release of the figure build) has more accessories which is worth more for its buck! Now to get more 1st release RBs which I hope sink down in prices for affordable customs |

It's worth getting another BK RB for his gear alone. |
