Yeah, I was in the Air Force, and it's definitely worse than you think it is. I know that something unprecedented happened in the Navy. They retired a Fleet Defense/Air Superiority aircraft (F-14) without having a replacement ready. I like the F/A-18, but she's no air superiority bird. The Air Force just crashed an F-22 at Edwards probably during DT&E, which is freaking unheard of! You're writing the TR for this plane and you end up crashing it?
Anyway, I think Cobra would be somewhat like that. I think they would operate on more than a billion dollars. I go back to the original 1982 filecards for my inspiration. These guys have infiltrated everything from financial organizations to nuclear power plants and they're masters of deisguise, counterintelligence and they're ruthless. I would think Cobra would operate somewhat like those mercenary armies in Africa, but much more organized. They can afford to pay top dollar for soldiers, pilots, etc. Arms dealing, drug trafficking, and intelligence gathering are industries that can pay big bucks if you've got the logistical capability. I would imagine that would be the case. I always thought of GI Joe as a personification (and simplification) of the US Military. So, some of them are motivated by love of country, but most of them are there for the good benefits and free college tuition... lol. With how my Cobra organization got started it makes sense how it all comes together, but it gets complicated to explain. I'll spare you. @NSA: I knew you were just joking. I just had to explain it cause I'm an uptight anus like that. Toyz are serious business, yo!

Companies+"terrorism"+graft=open for business
Anyone in a position of authority can either be bought or blackmailed. I don't believe for a second that any government hunts down terrorists for the good of theur people. There has to be a vested interest. Take Mexico for instance. This isn't a war between the Mexican government and the cartels. It's a war between the remnants of Felix's cartel after he got pinched and the government is in the middle. When the new leader emerges, he'll just buy the presidency again and mexico will go back to being a tourist spot for 18 year olds who want to get drunk and taken advantage of. Money buys protection. Like GE selling stuff to Iran. They bought people off for years and sold to whoever they wanted to, but when they ran out of money (financial trouble if you recall), now they just got "caught" supporting terrorism. Funny how that works. I'm not saying you're wrong. You may very well be right. I just have a more pessimistic view of the world. That's mainly because I'm a dick.

I have a total boner for your avatar figure. I like the Resolute trooper head on any figure. Is that a BBI/ FOV helmet on it?

These new power team elite toys are based off of Soviet and Chinese designs. They come from both countries. The helicopter, i believe, is a European design, but most countries use it. We use it in the Coast Guard. But, all the craft are used in the Chinese military. That's the overall "theme" of the wave. Type 98 Main Battle Tank, more ZSL92 Infantry Combat Vehicle, more, more Harbin Z-9, a derivative of this Shenyang J-11, a derivative of this Fast Attack Vehicle - No pics, but i think that's it. 155mm Long Tom Howitzer - A WWII Howitzer, These are still used by various foreign countries. I think that's it for the new wave. Research is a bitch. The IFV is definately the WZ551. The Z-9 is made in China with a license from Dauphin. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/565/z9cj4.jpg The FAV is on the back of the box. Here is a pic from another collector... WP - new vehicles picture by hayward_thomas - Photobucket It is also in the Battlefield 2 game that I play regularly.

I can definately see a few customs out of this. From the front end, it almost looks like the SKYSTRIKER, wonder what she would look like with a SS paint job?

From the pictures the Su-27 looks like it's been pieced together from two different aircraft with different scales with the cockpit area being largely dis-proportioned to the mid to rear of the plane. Maybe it was just the angle the picture was taken from. But does anybody else see what I mean?
