One of the things I like about the GI Joe Collectors Club is being able to give us characters Hasbro has no intentions of ever releasing. GIJCC also comes up with new characters to add to the Joe mythos. Starting back in 2003 with Black Dragons, Demolisher for the Dreadnoks, Gen. Mayhem for the Iron Grenadiers, Hotwire the BAT mechanic, even Iron Bear in last years Oktober Guard set. This year the GIJCC gave is not only new characters but two new female characters. Who doesn't want to add more females to their Joe-verse? Today's review is on Crimson Asp.
Crimson Asp, who is she? She is a hired Merc working with Cobra Mortal. From the file card, her name is Siobhan Nathair from Dublin Ireland. Crimson Asp lost her eye on due to a mission gone wrong in her homeland. I see her as a female Firefly with her expertise in explosive devices. She gets her kicks from destruction caused by her, be it with bombs or a flame thrower. Crimson Asp is made up of the Resolute Baroness' torso, arms and skirt, Resolute Scarlett's legs and a new head sculpt. A head sculpt that resembles the character Molotov Cocktease from the show The Venture Bros. A well done head sculpt with the eye patch on her right eye and parted shoulder length 'crimson' hair. The hair does prevent full head articulation. The colors are a bit on the bright side, and how these colors work on a "Night Force" set is beyond me. Then again we have the bright purple SAW Vipers and Cobra Mortal dress all in white. Crimson Asp comes with a flamethrower, hose, and backpack from Blowtorch v3 for those cold nights of destruction. Also included with Crimson Asp are two bombs from Firefly v26, a rifle and grenade launcher both from Firefly v23. If Crimson Asp is gonna go on a rampage of pure mayhem and destruction she most definitely has the gear for it. Overall, Crimson Asp is a great figure with an awesome back story. We can never have enough strong female characters in the GI Joe universe. With Crimson Asp, it looks like Firefly has some competition now. In the words of Ferris Bueller "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

Great review.
I was really surprised that Crimson Asp didn't come with that repainted Cobra HISS Scout shown in the comics. At first, I thought it was going to be the freebie and I was disappointed. Now I'm thinking it might make for good use on a vehicle I never liked for what it was.

The lack of neck length makes her look chunky. Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Kinda wish the head had turned out better like promo images...
And there's no way she can sit down with that cape/skirt thingy. I'm half-assedly working on a custom of this figure and I'm almost prepared to omit the skirt or whatever completely. |

Nice review Im really enjoying this figure. Im digging her over the top design. I even said to my wife "Honey I wonder how would you look in an eye patch?" (which could probably be taken as a threat in retrospect)

Yeah I thought she looked pretty great, so I bit the bullet and got one off eBay for $51 shipped. Probably the most I've ever spent on a loose Joe figure...

This is the first time I've seen her name. "Nathair" is Gaelic for "snake," cognate with English "adder."
