Blowtorch was an innovative figure back in '84 as he was the first figure released that featured a removable face mask. (Ripcord was the same year, but released after Blowtorch) To me, this was the coolest feature ever, at least until '85 when the heads started having ball joints, but hey when you're a kid back in the '80s this was great.
So, I've been looking forward to Blowtorch for nostalgia reasons. He doesn't hold the same fascination for me that say Flint or Snake Eyes does, but I still love the character. And, I'm happy to say that the modern Era Blowtorch does not let down. The body is mostly new parts, the exception being the chest, which is the same as the Snow Serpent and Arctic Snake Eyes. The head is a new sculpt, and looks fantastic. Yes, I said it...a figure that has a lopsided grin and it looks good. (unlike the crap head that belongs to Lift Ticket) The only downside is that he can not hold his torch with both hands properly. Blowtorch's accessories are almost perfect recreations of the vintage, the pack actually appears to be modified from the original. The torch itself now features two handles and a removable hose, but is so close to the original that it took some close inspection to see that it wasn't. The helmet is smaller and thinner than what we have been used to, but it looks great! Hope to see more. He has a vest that slips over the neck post and is secured in place by the backpack. And yes, naturally he has the removable face mask. Great fit, and the hose plugs into the chest plate like the vintage one. EDIT : Thanks to forum member 1SGHauser we can see that a panel on Blowtorch's backpack is removable. And thanks to member Irid70 we can see that thanks to the flexibility in the hose the Torch fits onto the side of the backpack. Thanks again for pointing out these two things I missed in my haste to get the review up! Great figure, an excellent update to the first one. FIGURE RATING 9 out of 10

I don't think I've anticipated a figure as much as I anticipate this one.

I hope I find one soon... This is the only figure from Wave 13 that I'll buy.
