Final Thoughts It's difficult to separate my thoughts on Bolder from my thoughts on The Corps! line as a whole, so I'm not going to say anything specific to the figure beyond the fact that he's a perfect representation of the line-up. Whether you like The Corps! figures - and thus Bolder - will depend on two things: the visual style and the articulation. Whilst the former is very stylized, I personally really like the chunky, comicbook hyperrealism of the figure. It may be slightly caricature-ish but it's very well done. The articulation - or more specifically, the T-crotch hip set-up - isn't quite so great but even with these limitations it's still possible to get some neat poses out of Bolder and I was pleasantly surprised at just what he was capable of. But beyond that there's a third consideration I haven't yet touched upon and that's the pricing. A single carded figure retails at under $2. But Lanard's low-pricing extends across the line. The three-figure, mini-vehicle packs are just $5 and you can score full-sized vehicles starting at $6. Put that up against some of Hasbro's recent GI Joe: Retaliation offerings - which in some cases use a cheaper grade of plastic and less articulation - and you'll begin to see why this line is looking a lot more attractive today than it did a year or so ago... That's not to say The Corps! are just cheap, GI Joe substitutes. They're actually very cool figures with some great designs, neat paintwork, decent articulation and some fun vehicles that will appeal to collectors of all ages. It's simply an added bonus that they'll also appeal to fans of Hasbro's Real American Heroes. And if you happen to be such a person then do yourself a favor and grab a figure or two. Simple and cheap - in a good way. Final Score: B+ Full Review: That Figures: REVIEW: The Corps! Connor ''Bolder'' Bradic

How did i miss this ? Gah...i so want this figure (which is crazy as there are plenty of him on the shelves but i haven't made my way to the store yet).
I challenge any 1:18th figure collector or enthusiast ( we all aren't collecting. Some of us simply like toys for the sake of toys) to find a better deal for an all around quality figure at a retail store. Quote:
At $2 These new Corps! figures are the best value action figure line available . The only thing missing from the new figures is lateral hip movement to put them on par with Hasbro's prime offerings.

So these are better than Retaliation figures? Well, the less articulated ones like Roadblock with the gimp hand? Damn.

I wish Lanard would go back to making WOW girls and Corps Construction figures as well as Police and Fire figures those were great and great dio figures! I also liked the space figures they had. I am not to into the new Lanard figures. The head sculpts are great but the bodies are too bulky and the hands and feet are cartoonish. I do like the vehicles though.

Personally...i wouldn't use the word "better". Just different...and not in a bad way. GI Joe will always have better articulation and they are priced to reflect that. As a life long Joe fan i'd expect that. Once you concede that point and look at the rest of what the newer Corps figures offer and you realize they are just a fun action figure toy that's not trying to be anything even close to what "detailed super realistic" joe is trying to be. Case in point: Most don't compare Star Wars : The animated Series action figures to joe. They are different. Most don't compare Small Soldiers toys to Joe . They are different. As someone who grew up with the diverse 80's - 90's toy offerings ( Starcom, Air Raiders, MOTU, Go Bots, Transformers, Eagle Force, MUSCLE, M.A.S.K., etc. etc. etc. ) it's just nice to see something unique on the shelves. The old Corps! figures didnt do much for me ( though i liked Star Force a LOT. Another example of a unique offering) but the new recruit Corps are fun toys. |

Sorry, I didn't realize there'd been follow-up posts on this.
The Corps! figures are, above all, fun. They're not the greatest or most detailed of sculpts but there's a cool, playful kind of style to them that just makes again, fun (and I'm sorry to repeat the word but that's pretty much the best way to describe them.) And at $2 a pop, you really can't go wrong.

$5 gets you 3 dudes and a reasonable knockoff Cobra CLAW or a motorcycle. You can't beat that price for some "supporting actors" in your Joeverse!

Yup, although I have to admit I got the motorbike with 2 Terra Team and one Sea dude and the figures were the older style, with a kind of super-deformed look about them. Not quite as cool as the New Recruits (and you don't get all the weapons) but yes, $5 for 3 guys and a vehicle is pretty good going.

As an aside, I actually wish now that I had picked up more Bravo Team.
