I don't respond most of the time to your posts do to the negative comments most of the time. I think you can change any of your weapons around if it makes you upset!! It's really not that big of a deal

Marvellous review, Shogi!
I have read your reviews of these figures avidly, as well as those of your colleagues, and this was one I was waiting for keenly. I was unsure of whether or not I wanted any of these for my Cobra army, but after seeing your pictures, and reading your review, I will be seeking at least two of these figures (but hopefully six) to compliment my wetsuit Baroness figure. Bravo, good sir, and keep up the good work! Quote:
I can't imagine why collectors want to "army build" for whatever vipers, troops, guards that hit retails. I just can't fathom how in the world do they make room for armies and similar multiple vehicles. Somebody got to have alot of space and alot of money to pull these tricks. Sure, cartoons show mutliples vehicles and troops but action figures? Why buy 20 divers, 15 Vipers, 30 Cobra Troopers, 10 Hiss Tanks, 12 Trouble Bubbles, 16 Stingers SUV? And then buy the G.I.Joes counterparts to match with Cobra's for a fullscale battle. Why? It's a waste of money and space, if you ask me.
Because some of us want to. Plain and simple. I am a professional propbuilder, and set maker, and own/operate my own studio. I also own my own house and business outright (NO MORTGAGEs!!) and can decorate rooms as I see fit, such as my 15x15 toy room, and my 12x10 gun room where I maintain and display all of my historical firearms. My studio pays for me and my employees to go to cons dressed in costume, as well as me troop building Cobra figures, and collecting historical firearms and I pay not only my bills on time each month, but my taxes for my home and business as well. I am picky about what figs I do buy, and what ones I do troop build. The ones I am troop building, I am building in units of 40. The ones I am not, well I get how many I think i need, 2 of the Diver here, for instance, (to go with the wetsuit Baroness), 8 jetpack troopers, 6 Stinger Drivers, 6 red ninjas. My Cobra Armored column will have 2 red HISS1's, 10 blue, 10 black, and one HISS II as the command HISS, along with half a dozen trubble bubbles, and 6 stingers as accompinesnt, along with 4 each Firebats, Fangs, and Claws. You get the idea. Or rather it seems you don't. I do with my spare time, space and money what I want to. If you don't understand my passions, or those of my brother and sister fans, that's fine, but by all means, do not run us down or ridicule us for it. As for buying a crap ton of sissy mary joes, trust me, I am not wasting the cash on multiple identical joe vehicles, or any crappy greenshirts, just named characters. and hey, who said 20-1 wasnt great odds??? After all, if you notice in my pics I am NOT wearing a Joe uniform... Quote:
This ireview of an upcoming action figure, on a board devoted to people who share a common love of all things G.I. Joe. Bringing your personal life into this, and/or inferring people who troopbuild are lacking in one is completely uncalled for. I proudly troopbuild, sir and yet *gasp* I have a long time girlfriend who lives with me, and I am soon to marry, and we have 3 wonderful children. My fiancee is very supportive of me and my persuits, and I of hers, and the two youngest ones (8 & 10) have the time of their lives playing with me and these figures. Just because collecting GI Joe, or troopbuilding my Cobra forces are a hobby, they are not my entire universe, and I for one am insulted you would think that of me or any other member of this fine board who might happen to buy more than one of a single figure. -Viper 486 out. I'm thinking a squad of 5 is what I'll army build, with the 5th one done up in a custom color scheme to designate a lead diver.
Any ideas on what the lead diver color scheme should be? And why no harpoon type weapon? Weird. I do like his accessories though. |

man, this thread is getting feisty for a figure review!
Anyway, I'll pick up 2 or 3 of these guys just to compliment my MASS Device Baroness, but I'm still not impressed by the guys because the Eels just blow them away. |

Sorry sir, but well thought-out logical arguments always lose to ignorant ad hominem attacks on the internet. Valiant effort though.
[ontopic] I think this is a fairly mediocre figure. Nothing special, but at least executed well. The holsters/sheaths on a lot of figures continue to bug the crap out of me... we got some nice thin flexible plastic holsters in the line that both look and work great, but they still put the clunky blocks on most of the figures where hardly anything fits. The knife looks stupid sticking out like that, and the sheath looks stupid empty. Lose/lose. Bleh. Also, I find it amusing that some folks choose to argue the "logistics" of having more than one type of underwater Cobra trooper. The logic is this: there's a red generic diver in the miniseries. Hasbro saw an opportunity to reuse the Torpedo body AND the new Eel head AND have a vessel for the blue suppository. That's it. If your imagination balks at the idea, well, dunno what to tell you. FWIW, if anyone needs a diver I have an extra from my case in my BST thread. |
