I'm not a completist by any means. I buy figures that meant something to me as a kid or figures that have such a cool design that I just can't pass them up. The wave 6 Beachhead/Mainframe comic pack has elements of both for me. I just got mine in yesterday, and wanted to share pics.

I liked Mainframe as a kid, but I was a bit of a computer nerd back then. I was glad to see them do a modern version. I thought the figure was well-done overall. I'm not sure about the torse, but the legs are easily identifiable as those belonging to Snake Eyes/Stalker/etc. His helmet is not removable but his webgear is, even though you would have to take the figure apart to remove it. A neat feature on his webgear is some elctronic device that looks like an iPod to me.
His left hand is another example of Hasbro taking a great figure and doing something screwy with it. That hand is completely useless, as I couldn't get it to hold any of the accessories. It looks like he thinks he's the Pope, trying to bless something or other. The accessories are cool. I like the gun, although I don't remember Mainframe having a gun, but it's cool. The computer is the same as the old one except that it has legs. I think it's the same computer included with the Arctic Tele-viper. Another thing about Hasbro -- they should join us in the 21st century. They included these cardboard "disks"; I haven't used a disk like these since at least 1998 or so! But it's cool they added a little something out of the norm.

I originally wasn't as excited about the Beachhead figure, but when I got the CP, I realized what a cool fig it was. It is supposed to be a throwback to the original, maybe even more so than the 25th BH we got.
The accessories were really cool with this fig. The gun is like the original figure's, except it has a removable clip. The satchel that BH carries also comes with a spare clip. Nice touch. Pretty much the same mold as the 25th version, but with a different head sculpt, and, of course, the "unmasked" head. I head extreme difficulty getting the spare head on, and I could not get the spare head on with the "half-mask" at all. Demerit. IDK if it's just the one I got or if they are all built that way. His vest is like the original figure's, and it is removable, but just like Mainframe, I think you would have to take the legs off in order to remove the vest. Neither came with backpacks. Both figures had paint flaws straight out of the package. I know that they're mass-produced, but, I still think half the time my 4 yo could do a little better painting than that. Overall, though, great set. I highly recommend it. I bought one for display and I got another to use some parts for customs, as i have a few ides. I might get another one later on.bri

I never cared for the characters who didn't have weapons (except occasionally the pilots), so I'm glad to see he's got one.

Nice review. Very complete and concise. I agree that Mainframe's finger arrangement is likely meant to be for typing on his computer console.

Beachhead is looks pretty cool since he is wearing his old clothes, but the 25th version is already perfect IMO, so we probably could've used a new figure we didn't have instead.
But I really like Mainframe; he looks just like how I remember him. Awesome. LOL. The 3.5" disks I can understand, but including those 5.25" is pretty bad. LOL. |

Good review.
I love that we all completely ignore the fact that he's been re named Dataframe. He will always be Mainframe to me!!

I'm waiting to get this pack for Beachhead... Mainframe is cool, but I'll be trading him off to one of you guys. (Unless someone has a Beachhead they'd like to split with.)
