The final two Reviews (in Mini-form) of the remaining Slaughter's Marauders figures...
Bull/Taurus Final Thoughts Bull wouldn't have been that bad a figure had Hasbro not made the fatal - and frankly ridiculous - decision to use the legs of the SkyStriker Captain Ace - which happen to be the worst knee joints ever made. Ever. Hasbro's designers seem to believe that there's no reason why the thigh and knee pad components can't simultaneously occupy the same space. As a result, it's impossible to pose Bull (or Captain Ace) in anything but bent-knee/squatting poses. And because of that he looks as if he's constantly doubled-over with stomach cramps or about to fall over. The rest of the figure isn't bad, particularly. The forearms look a little tube-like and the choice of colouring is a little too 80s day-glo for my tastes but I could just about live with that were it not for the fact that the knees completely destroy any fun or cool factor this figure might have mustered. A potentially sound figure totally ruined by utterly useless knee joints. Final Score: C That Figures: REVIEW: GI Joe Slaughter's Marauders Battle Set - Varujan ''Bull'' Ayvazyan Red Dog Final Thoughts I know it would be an incredibly dull line of toys if every single figure were a regular soldier and that having ''unusual'' figures helps them leap off the shelves (and gives the writers something to base their stories on) but Red Dog is one of those too-gimmicky, novelty characters I really don't get. Yes, I know Slaughter's Marauders (or Renegades) were supposed to be a unit of outsiders but Red Dog just pushes that too far for my tastes. Things wouldn't be so bad if Hasbro had at least made some attempt to make him a combatant but as it is, being armed with a pistol and a football he looks less like a soldier and more like he's holding up a sports memorabilia store. And on top of that what gear he does come with isn't even that good. The pistol fits into his hand (just, and even then it looks weird) but getting him to grip the football is a nightmare. And yes, you could re-equip him with some of your leftover gear and he'd probably be quite good. But that doesn't excuse the fact that out of the box, he's pretty weak. It's a real shame, as the body sculpt is superbly imposing and with a little bit of extra work (and less focus on the Football-fixated aspect of his character) this could have been a real stand-out figure. As it is, he's just a very ordinary figure further marred by poor accessories. Final Score: B That Figures: REVIEW: GI Joe Slaughter's Marauders Battle Set - David ''Red Dog'' Taputapu

Thanks for the review. I wish they would have used the same legs that was used on Red Dog for Bull/Taurus.

Agreed. He actually had potential to be a pretty good figure, as his design was just odd enough to make him interesting without going too far into the realms of 80s comic character. But they then gave him leg joints that just don't work and so completely ruined any chances he had.

What sucks is that bull is short. His legs are definitely a problem. Wish they could have made him taller

He's probably be a bit taller if he could stand-up straight!

I couldn't stand "Bull's" legs so I swapped them for the Arctic Snake Eyes from the 25th anniversary line, and as an added bonus the colors matched well enough that I didn't have to paint them. The legs now look somewhat bulkier, however, I think they look more military and "ready for action" than what was there to begin with.
Now I have to see how Red Dog looks with single card Torch's legs and Airborne's head.
