I wish that could be the entire review but I wanted to detail everything about this figure. Especially the many, many bad things. ARTICUMALATION The figure's neck bends forward and backwards, and a tiny bit from side to side. Also it turns around 360 degrees just like an actual person. The wrist bends at a joint up and down (Palm can't face inward), with a trigger finger joint and the other fingers together also on a joint. This seems pretty nice when I saw it from the package, but after trying to have it hold any of its fabulous accessories I found the hand doesn't grip tightly enough and the trigger finger isn't long enough to fully grip the trigger in a fist. Waist articulation is 360, feet bend inwards and outwards and 360, arms are 360, elbows bend 90 degrees forward and almost 90 degrees back, knees aren't double jointed and bends 90 degrees back and almost 90 forward, and the legs can go sideways from the hip and is surprisingly not hindered much by the pants. FABULOUS ACCESSORIES Flint comes with his beret, a rifle, a shotgun, a knife, a pistol, and his rubber boots. Of all of these he probably holds his hat the best. The shotgun folds out like the one in Jurassic Park, in the scene where he is hunting the raptor. You know, that scene. The beret has a tiny bit of foam padding on one side of the inside of the hat that is apparently supposed to keep it on its head...but doesn't. The hat still comes off very easily. The pistol is probably the most interesting of his accessories, mostly because it not only has a clip that comes out but you can also cock it back on a spring. The clip on the rifle does not come off but it does have a stretchy strap. Yup. The boots are rubber and very flexible, and thus keeps the figure from standing up well. Coupled with Flint's adorable baby feet it takes quite a few tries before he can stand up. Actually, the figure stands up better on its bare feet rather than with the boots. FRILLS There's a G.I. Joe tag on the back of its pants, metal buttons instead of velcro at the zipper, there's a pocket on the left side of his pants (No velcro or anything to keep it closed), none of the pockets on his web gear open, the knife can be put into any of the three "brass" straps at the front of his web gear, the pistol is held in a holster on his right but the inside of the holster is open, and he has a scar on his face. Oh, and his underwear/hip is black. Because you were all thinking it. ANALYSIS He's likable but his problems vastly outreach his good points. Pros: -He's Flint -Some nice details -Pistol cocks, mhm -Decent articulation -He's Flint Cons: -Can't stand unless you have a lot of patience -Can't hold most of his weapons in one hand alone -Knees can't bend fully back meaning crouching is out -Chest is huge and disproportionate -Feet bend inside the boot but doesn't help at all in posing -Wrists can't bend inwards All in all he looks sort of nice but I'm fairly certain he's going to have a lethal run in with the customer service desk sometime this week. Until then I'm going to try to find ways he can stand without falling down. EDIT: And I should probably note this was my first 12 inch figure so I have nothing else to compare it to. The figure also comes with a pretty neat little poster featuring some of the DVD pack figures, vehicles, and Major Bludd pointing a rocket launcher that doesn't have a rocket.

wow, thanks for biting the bullet, looks like these new 12"ers are even worse then i thought they were going to be.
I'd really like to know what they thought process of releasing these was at Hasbro, it just doesn't make sense to me...

I've seen him in the store and he's not that impressive at all. I did pick up the 12" Bazooka and I'm pretty happy with him (I'm just happy that they even made Bazooka in this scale).
My biggest problem with Flint is that marshmallow filled beret of his. It doesn't sit realistically on his head at all. These figures are just collecting dust at my Wal-Mart, aside from the Bazooka I purchased, I don't think a single one has sold in over a week. 12" dolls are notorious for not standing on their own, that's why you have to buy doll stands for them. My Wal-Mart used to carry them, but they don't anymore. Just type in "doll stands" in Ebay or Amazon and they should pop up. BTW, what's with all the hot sauce? |

Great review man, thanks for posting that and giving us a look at the figure. Look wise, Flint looks like one of the best in the first wave but what dissapoints me most is that the super articulated body was not used.

That actually looks rather nice compared to previous 12" releases, but I just can't get myself to accept the line at that size. It ain't right!!!

I still want know why the 12" figures of Flint and Bazooka are wearing each others pants. (Or is this considered the unofficial part of the military doctrine called, "Don't ask, don't tell".)

Hm... I am a 12" collector and it seems that most of you aren't (but some of you might be) so I am going to say just a little about them. From all of the older 12" figures, the heads to turn and the hands are like that. They might not have the tightest grip but that is a good hand. I have one without jointed hands and it cant move a lot. The pants, most 12" Joes have green pants, it't not uncommon for 2 figures to have the same pants.
Most 12" joes are hard to stand up by them self and unless you glue their feet at the joint (I tried it, woops!) they can't stand. Most feet bend inside the boots unless the boots are really small (or leather ones) or the feet are huge. I want to thank you also for writing this review because it's nice seeing pictures of him. |

I actually just bought this figure today and was impressed with the better details this one had than the previous version. I've had one run-in with said beret falling off but figure I can just glue it if it gets too annoying. As for not standing up, I did have him up on his own for a little while until the cat knocked him down but luckily I have 2 doll stands(previously bought for older 12" Joes) for Flint and Dusty.
I do appreciate the review as now I know he can't hold this gun on his own if I decide to cut the bands that are holding it right now. |
