Hydra is a terrorist organization hell bent in world domination. With the name derived from the mythical beast, this evil organization has been a resilient and pesky opponent to many heroes. Cut one head and two more will grow in its place as mentioned in their creed...
"Hail, HYDRA! Immortal HYDRA! We shall never be destroyed! Cut off a limb, and two more shall take its place! We serve none but the Master — as the world shall soon serve us! Hail HYDRA!" For the Captain America movie toyline, the Hydra Armored Soldier is part of wave 3, # 12 while the Hydra Attack Trooper is from Wave 4, # 15. What's Hydra if there are no cannon fodder for the heroes to play with. I decided to pick several (14 hehe) pieces of the armored soldier but when I saw that the attack trooper was equally nice, I decided to pick up 12 armored soldiers and 2 attack troopers who will serve as squad leaders. PACKAGED: Not much difference in terms of packaging OUT OF THE PACKAGE: Hydra Armored Soldier and Attack Trooper: Both came with decent accessories and with a removeable harness which can can be a pain to remove since it also attaches to the left arm. They both share the same launcher with the Attack Trooper having a lighter shade. The attack trooper's other weapon is different and smaller than the Armored Soldier. The differences between the two are as follows: 1. Retooled head for Attack Trooper (with silver lines running across his head) 2. No Red line on Attack Trooper's pants 3 Small red line on Attack Trooper's neck Overall the figures are identical even the color shade. However there is a variant Attack Trooper with a lighter and brighter shade which I passed since I prefer the more realistic color scheme. Although you may need to sift to some figures since some had paint that are sloppily done especially at the face area Both Armored Hydra Soldier (left) and Hydra Attack Trooper (right) are well articulated compared to their supposed boss the Red Skull. They came with a ball jointed neck, swivel hinged elbow, ball jointed torso, swivel hinged elbow, swivel wrist, ball jointed hips with a swivel thigh, double jointed knees and swivel hinged feet! Yay! One knock is that articulation can be hindered by their "skirt" part of their uniform since it is made of rubbery plastic that's tough to bend even with the slits. The left arm can be a bit hindered as well thanks to the harness extending to that part but I consider this minor since I'm just too happy that Hasbro did not make any shortcuts with these bozos like Skully. Hydra Armored Soldier and Hydra Attack Trooper geared up: They make for a decent addition to the Joes or Cobra troops. Weapons are made of soft rubbery plastic however, they're acceptable since due to the thickness it's not going to bend as much especially at the barrels. FUN SHOTS: A few minor flaws here and there, but overall Hasbro did a good job in their latest incarnation of our heroes' cannon fodder. PROS: 1. Well articulated 2. Well detailed 3. Decent accessories CONS: 1. Articulation hindered at the hips and left arm I rate this: out of |

Nice! Thanks for the review. Picked up the Deluxe Hydra today and wasn't sure if I'd be into these guys once I find them.
I think I'll go for it. Maybe not 14 of them. 1 each will be alright for me, although I've got quite a few Captains with nobody to punch. |

I didn't even realize there were two variations on this mold. Gives me an excuse to buy three or four of these a piece. Nice review and great score.

Damn, maybe we will be able to make armies out of these guys. As long as numbers like that show up in stores. I mean look at the trailers for Captain America. With the rows and rows of the Hydra Soldiers.
